No you are right, their goal was a quick breakaway goal with a ball over the top. It wasn't the case for 5-10 mins we were 11 men behind the ball and their defenders had moved up to the half way line.

A good draw. But we should have won this.

The season is unimpressive so far, but it could still end up OK. I'll be honest though and say that I don't think this side will get back in Europe, and they'll be out of the champions league at the ko stage even If they scrape though as one of the also rans.

It's kinda what I expected anyway though...we're just not that good and not that bad.. We're a mid table PL side.

Don't know about the quality of performance but an away point to a difficult German team in the CL is a good result.

Far too entitled to think we should win every game especially in the CL.

EH isn't perfect but then no manager is but he is easily the best manager we have had since Sir Bobby and could be argued to be better as EH has won a trophy with us.

Certain posters should re-read their comments on this thread especially the earlier ones and then look at the result. Embarrassing is the word.

There would be more posters posting on MD thread if it wasn't for the histrionics on a MD thread of a few which becomes increasingly irritating. No constructive points are made by those few just wild, inaccurate, unsubstantiated statements which regularly are shown to such even during the course of the same game, just like tonight.

Wissa and Ramsey subbed on in 90+2 mins.... I mean what was that about? Howe is great but his in game management is absolute ****e and I think he isn't going to improve this. Evidence also points that he doesnt know how to use a squad. He has his 10-13 players and he is happy with that. Wissa needs minutes and Big Nick needs a break. Outcome 92 mins for Nick and 2 mins for Wissa. So now the Sunderland game and Big Nick may be knackered and we dont know if Wissa can last 20 or 30 or 40 mins. Its just atrocious!

I don't think there's any argument about it tbh, Howe is better than Robson. Robson's financial backing was huge at the time, probably more comparatively than Howe's now as there were no constraints then and Sheppard willfully splashed the cash.

Robson had one run at the title, which faded with a good 8 games or so to go and finished 3rd, that was the CL season with the Feyenord game which was his best. Howe's achievements are far greater.

Woltemade was ran into the ground tonight. He can't start Sunday. Wissa needs to come in.

    Why?

He might not start and that might have been the plan. But Sunday is 3 and a half days away. Big Nick should be okay to start if needed. He might not last the match but bring Wissa on after say 60 minutes depending upon how the game is going.

Yeah he'll have plenty of rest and the game's just down the road. Starting Wissa who's played about 15 minutes this season would be odd.

Really good job you’re here. Dunno how the club would manage otherwise

Because he gave everything tonight and couldn't run near the end. He was moving on empty. I don't believe he'll recover enough to be near his best.
I'll be surprised if there aren't a few changes on Sunday.

Things that we thought before the game:

    - Barnes isn’t a right winger.
    - Burn isn’t very good.
    - Joelinton isn’t playing well and hasn’t for months.
    - Certain players, like Miley, Wissa, need minutes
    - Balance is important so square peg, square hole
    - Newcastle struggle against low block every time

Everything that didn’t work tonight was telegraphed by us, by the opponents. Every mistake Howe went on to make we were as observers justified. Hes being Bruce when he needs to just chill out and be Howe.

Too slow first half and poor defending for their goal. Probably should have been two down at half time. Much better second half. Could have won that half 4 or 5 to 2. Overall deserved a draw away against a good side . 4-4 would probably have been fair.
Need to start performing for two halves instead of one and cut out the infuriating late conceded goals.

A good summary, one that doesn’t catastrophise the situation overly. Dry.

Eh? I think you're exaggerating here, he was still playing well at the end.

Players like Livramento, Thiaw, Burn etc play all of every game and put everything into it, doesn't mean they're gonna be rested next game.
