Regular posters on here will know that I'm 100% not one for making partizan "NUFC biased" comments but when it comes to Pickford it's hard for me to ignore. I wanted him to do well and think if he can regain his composure could be genuinely very good again but he showed a ridiculous temperament and fllibility when Everton played Newcastle a couple of seasons ago. Everton were winning and he made a couple of great saves then started goading the crowd (really went for it and a way you rarely see tbh), he then made one error and the crowd got on at him and he simply imploded - and made a couple of errors as we went on to win.
He lets his passion get the best of him and it leads to some clangers in judgement. At the end of the day with a goalkeeper you'd prefer an average ability keeper with excellent temperament than one with all the ability in the world but who makes consistently dodgy decisions. I'd always be confident that if you chant at him enough he'd have errors in him. Hope he gets it sorted as he was doing great for some time and England aren't blessed with keepers at the moment.

Not defending it totally, but who would ever make a challenge like that. Let’s say VVD Is on side and volleys that and Pickford stops it by making himself big. It’s a great save regardless of the aftermath. I don’t think he had any intention of fouling van dyke. His eyes never left the ball. Schmeichel used to do that all the time in very similar situations. He caught players as keepers have over the years. Just because they’re not as badly injured or, more likely, the ball hasn’t been Mis-kicked by the striker, he’s made a great save, nothing matters.
If he meant it it’s awful. But I have little doubt that it was unintentional

Have a few mates that are Everton fans, they share our view. Like you, the Everton game Vs Newcastle is where I noticed his emotions get the better of him. Seems to be the games that mean more to him that cause the most over spill of emotions.
I have little doubt that, as a "lad", he's a dick with stuff like this. I know when to make my mouth go and when to stop (I'm a soft keyboard warrior although never threaten fist fights as I literally am soft!!)
Pickford I think would be in a pub in Newcastle watching the mags get beat and making his mouth go - even on his own!! I see this in his football, as you say, when he played Everton it just stood out like a sore thumb and impacted on his game. If it was 0-0 and Everton scored in the last minute, chances are he'd have had a tidy game, but because Everton got the lead and it got into his head (and the mag fans did too - which I would fuilly expect) he completely lost the plot!!
The concern is that fans see it, other players see it and managers see it too. Courtois making the comment about him during the last world cup was only done because he thought it would get to him, you wouldn't bother making comments like that to most players as it's a waste of air. Managers and fellow players can tell him to ignore it but at the end of the day it's up to him to do so and I'm not sure he has that in him - hopefully he develops it - in other positions on the park you can try and "prove them wrong" by doing something to shut up the critics but as a keeper that's out of your control. Indeed I think he is already at the stage where he's trying too hard to prove people wrong and it's the wrong mindset for a keeper imho, stick to doing the basics as well as you can, he can be exceptional at that.
Just tfor a little, addmitedly biased, balance, can I add that most Fans like to see their players become as agitated as they themselves are, about their Team.
As an example, how many of us wept crocodile tears when Elbows Al had his career ended a few week early by Julio?

Jordan seems to go OTT, but is that worse than, say Jack Rodwell with his total lack of it?
And I did notice in a picture in 'The Echo' of Jordon taking of and his right foot, the one he was pushing off with, looked to be at a very strange angle.
But whatever, most of us have seen much worse.

If we compared this effort of Jordan's to some of, say, Roy Keane's more reckless efforts, then Jordan looks like a pussy cat.
Personaly I think it was a horrible mistimed tackle.
There can be few Pro's who can claim never to have done such a thing throughout their careers.
