He was a class act, for a big fella he had some real quality on the ball, it would be worth bringing him back on loan, just to give Mclean lessons in ball control.

Sorry OLM don't agree, Mclean is much better than Parkin, in fact I hope he plays, he's so static that it should give Hobbs or Chester an easy afternoon

I thought he did well for us initially, in the 2005-06 season, and he scored some decent goals- remember the volley against Wednesday and the header against Leeds at the KC?

He seemed to go off the boil a bit in the second championship season, under Parkinson, but do you blame him? Probably them ice baths that did it.

Fair enough, though it will be interesting to see if you still think that on Wednesday morning.

Preminition time..... PARKIN always starts off well at all the clubs he`s been at, trouble is the interest wains, Hobbs and Chester will have to be on their game for this one, because he may be fat and unfit, but he knows how to lead a line, if we arent careful he cud just bully our young centre halfs, he also knows where the net is... ask TWS. Agreed though, the talent the lad has its just a shame he has been blighted by weight issues, that and he cant stop filling his face !

The weight issues are all down to his life style. He did well for us in his first season but then came back two stone overweight all down to the beer. In that season I recall that his goals all came in the first half and after that (actually before half time) he ran out of steam with all the weight he was carrying. I remember him playing against his ex team Barnsley was all over the place for 10 minutes scored two goals but after that walked around at best. Perhaps he should move to a team in Anglia where he will have a ready made drinking partner.

am i correrct in thinking that parkin still lives in the barnsley area ? if so then a move to doncaster is a good fit for both even for a month. if city are on there game then i expect it to make no difference to the final result. but it could stop city getting another clean sheet. maybe city fans should take loads of pies and throw them onto the pitch for parkin to munch on. afterall he does have a fine figure to keep up.

My pre season prediction that Donny would finish 24th out of 24 is now set in concrete.

:emoticon-0119-puke: FFS, we are better off without Parkin - bring him on, the over-rated tellytubby! Full faith in the lads - lift yer glasses! <cheers>

A throw back to the way footballers behaved in the days of Waggy & Chillo particularly after the close season. That said he had a good first touch - scored some excellent goals for us too - Stoke away when we won 3-0, TWS header, Barnsley and Sheff Wed at home.

Could have done much better in his career but being overweight and not the consummate professional doesn't seem to bother him.

I think Frosty the Snowman would have more mobility on the pitch than Parkin, bet the great big fat lummox scores now after I said that!

just as long as its only a consolation goal it would be fun to see what his celebration was like as i feel that city fans will be pie baiting him during the game.
