So the morning after the night before I've just scanned through the above and...
Firstly, for me, Barton is a thug, and not even a thug who's impressed with any sort of special ability. He's been average at best all year, and all the while conducts himself as if he's God's gift to QPR. He's not...he has been a pain in the arse since he joined. In terms of his ability on the pitch, apparently he's very gifted, but we'll have to take other teams word on that, because for us he has been utterly underwhelming. So from a playing point of view...we could live without him. That view is reinforced when you consider that next year we'll have the chance to bring in some new faces over the summer, and our biggest summer 'signing' will be the return of Faurlin next year. Faurlin and Diakite in the middle of the park performing at their best would leave Barton tweeting from the bench anyway.
Secondly, what a sad thread this is to see today. I had an amazing afternoon yesterday sitting in a pub in Paris watching with another QPR fan...and keeping track on other scores...my voice was gone by the end and I felt I had aged a good couple of years between kick-off and all the final scores coming in. In the end...just complete jubilation...they announced the Stoke score just after the final whistle...what an amazing feeling. So you'd hope that this morning the main topic of conversation on here and amongst pundits would be the valiant display and effort put in by Rangers at fortress Etihad. Reports should be all about the players and how well they've done to beat the drop...but no...as much as anything else...it's all about Barton. About his red card, his tantrum and his childish violent behaviour. How does that make Derry, Mackie, Hill, Ferdinand and co. feel when all attention is on an aggressive cheat, and his bad behaviour.
We can not only live without him, but I believe we can thrive without him next year and after yesterday, there will be few left fighting his corner.
Rant over...but to end, and far more importantly that one man...WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!!!!!!! What a day! My Rangers are back and staying where they belong...fantastic.
