The lino would have been looking right across the back for offsides and therefore the offence would have been in his line of sight. Considering we survived it matters little to me whether or not the decision was a guess. It's a side issue now. What does concern me is Barton and his entire mindset in all of it. It was an elbow no doubt. I don't think Barton for one micro second cared that he might get seen doing it? I don't think such considerations even entered his head. It was poor impulse control from somebody losing the plot and not giving a flying rat's arse for the consequences. The consequences we might have had have to live with as fans for who knows how long? But he put his ego above all that and got his own back on Tevez. He's worth it right? Calculated guess or not it was a sending off and Barton has proved himself small time in every conceivable way. As much of a hard man he thinks himself to be, he's proved himself very weak by not keeping his head and focusing on the prize, self-indulgently succumbing instead to petty revenge for his own satisfaction. He just wasn't able to handle the pressure of the occasion and it could have cost us dearly. How can we ever trust him in a big game again? I won't and I've been one of his biggest cheerleaders on here. He needs to go.
