But we've still only spent £10 million this summer, effectively replacing Perez for Joelinton.

It's positive but we're still not as strong as we were last season when the team still needed improvements.

Like I said, it's positive but a lot still to be done and moving forward, it needs to be done more professionally.

I don’t know I look at how we started last season. We’ve lost Perez, Diame and Rondon. We’ve added Almiron last window and Joelinton this window for 60m. I think our last two signings are the correct type of like to see. Quality over quantity. Almiron is last season will be the cry, but we’ve given him a valuable 6 months to adapt. The eye was always the seasons to come with him. Muto has had time. We need more but I’d rather be patient and get the right ones. At present we could field:

Dubravka

Schar
Lejeune
Dummett

Yedlin
Longstaff
Shelvey
Ritchie

Almiron
Muto
Joelinton

I don’t think that’s a horror show or that much different from last season. I fully expect we won’t follow it up like we’d all hope but we’ve got enough to stay up. We may surprise people. Hell we might sign two or three more, which if the quality was right, would make us massively better than last season. The manager being good enough may be a problem but he is another that fans just have to give a chance to. What’s happened has happened. We’d all like a change at the top but in the meantime I think we just get behind the team. I don’t believe boycotting, chanting at shops achieves anything. You literally need the majority on fans to get on board. It’s not even close. You’d do well to get our support under 30k on a regular basis.

Put it this way what would it take for fans to be happy? You know if we signed only one more key player (holding midfielder) I honestly think our team would look pretty decent. Fans also have to remember the likes of Muto, Shelvey, Aaron’s, were rarely used if at all. While none are worldies they could be of use

Thanks for the reply. You make a lot of solid points and I'd agree with most of them.

For me, if we sign a striker good enough for the starting eleven and a midfielder gold enough for the bench, we're on par with how we finished last season.

However, I felt like that team was relegation strugglers and Rafa did a great job to keep us up.

To give us a better chance of staying up with a poorer manager, I'd argue we need the above and at least 2 more players (a winger and a wingback) but would ideally also like a midfielder.

Muto is good enough to challenge the 16 but a stroke force of Joelinton, Gayle and Muto is weaker than a striker force of Rondon, Perez, Muto and Joselu (in my view).

Good to see the first one in and smashing the Transfer Record.

No doubt the whingers will find something to moan about.

Were still to replace perez and what if he gets injured ?

We need 3 more strikers to be on par or an outside chance of being better than last season.
