Good to see the first one in and smashing the Transfer Record.

No doubt the whingers will find something to moan about.

Obviously. That is what they do. We need more but its a start in a key position and we seem to have tracked this lad over a long period. It says he's a Bruce signing. However he was scouted under Rafa. The reality is neither manager actually finds the ****ing player, the scouts do. They just give a green light in modern football so another myth of Rafa's magic exploded.

40m... lot of money for a forward that didn’t get double figures last season

FYI you bought Firmino from the same team having scored the same number of goals after having played more games than Joelinton.

It is a lot of money though and he'll be rubbish.

that price will include 6 years wages and pies - it's the way Ashley works

This. Be interesting to see what Hoffenheim reckon this figure was. It does make sense that when you put forward a figure it includes signing on fees etc but they're not as straight forward as the newspapers always make out.

How’s about we let the lad get his feet under the table and pull the shirt on a few times in actual games before we start slagging him off.

The fee is **** all to do with him, much like the £50m we value Longstaff at. They obviously rate him hence the fee and I can’t believe that we would spunk that much on utter dross. Of course Ashley is gambling on him ripping the league up and Real or Barca coming in for him and paying £200m. I have a funny feeling we’re gonna enjoy what we see with him and Miggy next season....let’s just hope someone buys Ashley out before he gets the opportunity to offload them.

I hope you're correct, I think we still need another variety of striker up top (exactly the type Rondon was) and doubt we'll get it. As has been mentioed a few times a quality CM would change how I saw the team massively. Defence and Keeper are mid-table standard and with a slight improvement in CM and up top we should be comfortable next season. Given how long it takes us to get deals done there isn't actually very long now (2 weeks?).

True but he scored 16 the year before that and had a bit more experience.

Must admit know nothing about this guy so might turn out a great bit of business. Just given you have 0 strikers seems a big risk to pin your goal scoring hopes on him.

Still, 20m in jan, 40m here. At least you guys are showing some ambition.

Be interesting to see if any of these other strong links come to fruition. Jarrod Bowen and Allan Saint-Maximin getting a lot of noise. Links to German LB Philipp Max and French international RB Djibril Sidibe will hopefully prove to have something in them. Also being linked to signing another Brazilian striker - Marrony da Silva.

Keep Longstaff. Fook manure . Just like shearer. Did.

Shearer when we were breaking the world transfer record and trying to win the league, vs Longstaff when we're managed by a useless lower league duffer who we had to poach from the league below and are getting sued for poaching.

Times change.

Well, that’s what you get when you put all your eggs into one basket...

But we've still only spent £10 million this summer, effectively replacing Perez for Joelinton.

It's positive but we're still not as strong as we were last season when the team still needed improvements.

Like I said, it's positive but a lot still to be done and moving forward, it needs to be done more professionally.
