Because Purslow heard the furore at the World Cup but had to offer him a big wedge at a time when we didn't look a very attractive proposition for top players. We even had to suck up to Jova when he started having second thoughts and I think his big wage was maybe part of that. We couldn't afford to be rejected over the ownership issue by a player of his low stature.
Would be a good transfer for us but not good for spurs!!!! Parker is a big fish in a small pond IMO, a player who does well at smaller clubs but wouldn't do well at a big club. Much like Roy Hodgson as a manager.
