Who says we'll have problems on the pitch ? Most are overlooking Joe's part in all thisv ... If he wants to stay , wonderful ... If he wants too go , that's ok too . Allen deserves to do what he wants , all I'm saying I'm good with him staying or getting the money . Allen is not worth what Liverpool are offering IMO , but if they want him & he wants to go , I want him to go . We have a manager , with lots of money to bring anew ... no biggy !!

But the point KJ is that we want to move beyond being a smaller club in the Prem .... don't we. To extend a familiar saying ... "there are premier league clubs, and clubs that play in the premier league". Wigan is a good example of the latter - do we really want to be a Wigan, struggling season after season, living hand to mouth, banking on the manager pulling some miracle out of his rear end at the last gasp of every season. If we want to be the former, a Premier League club, we have to have belief in ourselves and not capitulate to the likes of Liverpool raping us of talent knowing full well how tough it is to find real talent (since their academy apparently sucks so badly that they have to come poaching our 22 year olds) in the market and that money is all well and good but not worth **** unless the talent is available to buy.

Well said Yankee, and my sentiments too, lets hope Jenkins and the board see it this way too, KJ is wrong here, and it doesn't have to be that way for us!................ <ok>

Last week, Michael Laudrup hinted that if a 'big offer' came in, then we could be tempted into selling our midfield star Joe Allen!

Since then we now know that the club have turned down an official offer of £10m plus Jonjo Shelvey on loan, sticking out for the £15 Million valuation we have put on Joe's head. Liverpool supporters are clearly keen to get Allen, over Jordan Henderson, but what concerns me is the fact that Laudrup, our new manager was 'window dressing' up one of our top players, why? have we already decided to sell, and if we have, who are we going to replace him with? surely we would replace Joe with a better player, so who would this better player be, if you listen to some Swansea supporters, there's plenty in Spain, but no one yet has given me a name that can fill Joe's shoes, and when you consider that with 90.3% accuracy, Allen was Europe's sixth most accurate passer last season (only 2% behind Xavi, and 1% behind Sergio Busquets), so he's arguably worth £15m and more, but whether the deal will actually go through is unclear, though reading between the lines, it seems to me, the deal is done, and we are going down the old Swansea route, of becoming a selling club again, something that is a big gamble, given our short time here in the Premier League.

I have always maintained the importance of Britton and Allen, in the dynamics of our midfield, and I'm personally not in favour of this move, yet it seems many are persuaded by the sums of money involved, and the connections in Spain that Laudrup has. What though of the issues of too many new players coming in, and the adverse effect that would have on our game, is it asking too much of Laudrup to mold a team with so many new faces at this level, it's a very fine balancing act, to bring in new players while maintaining your identity, and ideal, so my question to you is this, who would you see as an ideal replacement for Joe Allen, should the unthinkable happen, and what of Sinclair, and Williams?.................

"He [Allen] is special. He has made so many key plays for Swansea last season. 'He’s a Brendan Rodgers player', he fits Liverpool to a tee. If the club is able to secure him, they will have a real gem of a player. I would be shocked if Liverpool did not go for him this summer. " - Craig Bellamy

A lot aren't to be more accurate.

£10m plus Jonjo Shelvey on loan

Pretty fair price and Shelvey's a real talent, he's having a stormer as we type against AS Roma, playing as the point of a midfield 3. He'd add to any of the lower half sides first team or at least first team/bench.

Talking rubbish! your own Kop did a survey of fans, Approximately 8000 of your fans participated. 73% of voters chose Allen ahead of Henderson!................ <ok>

No they wouldn't , some of us understand that money doesn't equate to success , although them up the road would think differently , wouldn't you agree ?

If Allen played for another club would you be willing to pay 15m for him? I doubt it. If you won't pay 15m for him, then it follows that it is good business to sell for 15m.

I agree that money doesn't equate to success, but it is by making these good deals that the club can build a better team and move forward.

23m for Brendan, Allen and backroom staff. I'd take that any day. No way are they worth that much, so we have got an excellent deal. That's assuming it all goes ahead.

Lets sell the whole team, if the price is right! what stupidity aye................... <ok>

So if someone offered 500m for the whole team you'd turn them down? Of course there is a price that is worth selling at. If someone offers over the odds it means you can strengthen the team. In any case, the whole team won't get sold because many players want to stay. But nothing wrong with selling the players that want to leave - if the price is right.

DP - Every club is a selling club. And every club is a buying club. Even Man U sell players. Get over it.

Talking with your Cardiff brain again casual! when did Manu sell Giggs, or Scoles, or Ferdinand? there's a difference in selling the deadwood that are not up to scratch, and your top players, or is that something you can't comprehend!..........<ok>

When you build something special, you cherish it, that's what makes it priceless, but that concept is beyond a cynic like you, who sees the price of everything and the value of nothing!.................... <ok>

DPJ, if I recall the complete interview correctly, Laudrup's comment that you quote about Allen was a generalized response to a specific question. I would not take that to suggest that ML wants to sell Allen; it would bean unfair representation of the whole response.

This situation is disturbing on many levels; the possibility of losing Allen, his current output and future potential for a paltry 15 million being one of many. The reasonable present value of his future output far exceeds 15.

For example, BR's misuse and possible disclosure of what in any other business would be considered confidential information subject to nondislosure agreements. If not BR then some other party, possibly internal to the club, may be the disclosing source of Allen's contract. As I have commented on other threads, the key elements of player contracts should be sealed from managers and coaches to prevent the misuse we appear to be witnessing here.

Another example, is the total disregard and disrespect of the player's involvement in the Olympics by some party, possibly Liverpool, conducting this selfserving circus now.

What exactly are the terms of this non-interference agreement?

Also, the Swans' statement today no mention of the content and value of the approach from Liverpool or the other clubs that have made inquires - where do these details come from?

Completely wrong. If you can sell a player for 5m and buy a better player for 3m, then why wouldn't you do it. That is value.

You don't understand the concept of managing money. If someone wants to pay stupid money for anything, you just take it off them. If they pay more than something is worth then it can be replaced and you still have money over to make improvements.

If you follow your logic then we should overpay for players we want because the money doesn't matter, because we are building something special.
