Its important that we have no axe to grind with Liverpool fans on this one, the point is about how rodgers used the media to unsettle a vital player to us then used his inside knowledge to navigate his way around the farsical agreement Made by both clubs and lodge a bid, of course rodgers is only out for himself. Thats natural, the bigger issue is what this says to players like dyer, ash, taylor and others.

Their job Will be Made harder by us selling our best players, at least thats how they may look at it. Of course we have no idea how the new players Will work out, its clear to see that the club were bracing Themselves with this one and they may well Think joe can be replaced, what we Will lose though is a player that was swansea through and through.

I was hoping for evolution this season, looks like it may be Reveloution instead!

Joe has my full support whatever he decides,Liverpool as a club i wish well, karma has always found a way of redressing the balance for us,Long may that continue ;)

Based on this article the initial BS offer was rejected. There is also a comment ... "Although the new Liverpool manager has an written agreement with Swansea not to return to his former club to try to sign any of their players for the next 12 months, the Welsh club can waive that clause if a deal is deemed to be in the best interests of the club. " So it looks like BR is probing every which way he can to penetrate into our club and take Allen. For what it's worth the "Agreement" with Liverpool not to poach our players for 12 months isn't strong enough to wipe your arse with.

Clearly, there needs to be stronger non-compete language in manager / coach contracts going forward and we need to seal the the details of players' contracts from current non-executive management staff (i.e. team manager and coaches). Liverpool might be laughing at us for the forulation and strength of the "Agreement" ... but I can't help but ponder whether the lack of respect being shown Allen by Liverpool -- who wants this circus orbiting around him when he's in a once in 50 year event representing GB at the Olympics .... and apparently not even ML has deemed it necessary to bother him while the Team GB squad are active -- will back fire on Liverpool in the end. Clearly, not only does BR have no respect nor regard for Swansea City, but he seems to have very little respect and regard respect for Allen the player and the need of the player to completely focus on Team GB at this point in time.

We don't want loan players, not unless there's a purchase clause put into it.

Perhaps Rodgers will be after Pratley next? Go on Brenda, go get him.

Do you believe me yet, or are you all still in denial like with Rodgers. Many of you need to get a grip on what's really going on at the Swans. Sad to see Allen go, but we got a fantastic price for him.

I understand managers wanting to bring in players they've worked with but this is ridiculous. The impression is that Rodgers hasn't got the willingness/ ability/ contacts to unearth up and coming talent on his own. Sinclair was a master stroke but he'd spotted him whilst at Chelsea and worked with him beforehand in their youth setup.

Looks like HJ is playing hardball and will squeeze Liverpool for every last penny if we lose Allen. Good. But I still think we could do a hell of a lot with that money, and Laudrup's contacts in Spain will bear even more fruit imo. Watch this space.

All very well saying you don't want to lose our best players but for a smaller club in the Prem that's the way of things. Get used to it guys. It's what you do with the money that comes in that's important, and I'm confident we'll surprise a few people again this coming season.

But the point KJ is that we want to move beyond being a smaller club in the Prem .... don't we. To extend a familiar saying ... "there are premier league clubs, and clubs that play in the premier league". Wigan is a good example of the latter - do we really want to be a Wigan, struggling season after season, living hand to mouth, banking on the manager pulling some miracle out of his rear end at the last gasp of every season. If we want to be the former, a Premier League club, we have to have belief in ourselves and not capitulate to the likes of Liverpool raping us of talent knowing full well how tough it is to find real talent (since their academy apparently sucks so badly that they have to come poaching our 22 year olds) in the market and that money is all well and good but not worth **** unless the talent is available to buy.

What's your problem? 15m is a great price. Most fans would rather the money than keep the player.

Well I would, because it means two things if it happens: 1: Allen would rather be elsewhere; 2: We could that money to good use now before the season starts by picking up some continental bargains.

British players are far too overpriced imo.

No they wouldn't , some of us understand that money doesn't equate to success , although them up the road would think differently , wouldn't you agree ?

Sorry, bony but £15M (if that happens) is well over the odds for a player who's had one half decent season in the Prem. I'd snap their hands off. Do you really want a player here who'd rather be somewhere else?

    Neither would I.

Swansea are a small club who struck lucky. Enjoy your visit to the Prem, got a feeling Cardiff may take your place next year. They have the infrastructure to be a massive club.
