It's all over the press that he's speaking to Hughes today, they could all be from the same source though. I suspect that he'll be a Stoke player in the next couple of days
Press is one thing , if he is actually there in discussions is another . Speaks volumes to his intentions . I'm more in hope of Bony , although I expect nothing on that front either , it's where I'd be dangling my carrot .....although , I've been told I've a small carrot ...lol. For us to have to match 13 million to land Allen as we prepare a 15 million bid for Bony just doesn't seem in the realm of real value . P.S. ...this one will interest you jäger , we prepare a 15 million bid for Bony .... Manchester United prepare 20 million for Pogba's .........agent ...lol
I think or chances are 'nil' because we are sitting on our arse doing nothing. Let's be serious here, if we can't compete the the mighty powerhouse that is Stoke, then we are buggered.
Those volumes tell me we haven't matched their bid. Match their bid, and Joe will come home. It's that obvious.
And we won't pay £13 million for Joe who kept this agents player out of the Euro team of the tournament.
You don't actually know that do you? Also you don't know if Allen is interested in coming here, let's put it this way, Huw has said he's interested in bringing him here in the press, Allen would know that interest, he undoubtedly has Huw's number, if he's still talking to Hughes then it just tells he doesn't want to come back here.
Wow valley , you are consumed with Allen and not thinking in a sound matter . I don't think the club thinks we need to spend 14 million on Allen along with his big wage especially with our current midfield in place and it's fair thinking .Big clubs paying agents 20 million for a single signing shows the quagmire we find ourselves in in the Premier and how we must be careful on our transfers . Give it a rest man and concentrate on the positions we need to strengthen more instead of bringing home the " Home boy ... It's a business . 13 million for Allen , a midfielder where we are stronger ...compared to a 15 million bid for Bony , a striker where we are weaker ... No brainer . If it's one or the other , ditch Allen and raise the Bony bid to 20 million ....
Huw can say what he wants but we'd know if a bid was put in as SSN would be all over it. Joe has no choice, only Stoke have met the valuation so of course he'll speak with Sparkey. Huw is saying everything we want to hear, but talk is cheap, as is the players we will most likely end up signing.
No Roof, I'm pissed off that we've fallen asleep at the wheel with Joe. He's a class players and someone we should be signing. He'll improve the team immediately. I had him as a priority signing given Leon will be a year older and Ki piss poor last season. You are happy signing Fer etc, we need to aim above that level, and Joe is most certainly in the next level above.
We need to strengthen CM. Why? Because Fer is average, QPR couldn't wait to get rid of him, Leon is a year older, and Ki pounced about the place last year. As for a striker needed immediately, that's Guidos fault for selling Palo and Eder before bringing in replacements. Shambolic decision.
Those are your opinions valley , not neccessarily the facts.Spending to much on a position where we are steady and not bidding enough for a position that we are weaker would be falling asleep at the wheel . As it is , are we weaker in the middle of midfield or in the striker position ?
Why would Palo want out? He'd only just arrived for £8 million and was a Guido signing. He's gone because he wasn't good enough.
I don't know . But Guidolin talked highly of him after the season was over and still he left ....It points to Palo wanting out more than anything else . Eder definitley wanted out though
As I said previously he's overpriced! Plus a player has far more say in transfers than a simple valuation. If he truly wanted to come here he would, even if he runs the clock down to the next window. He admires Hughes apparently and is likely to listen to what he says. I'll put money on him signing for Stoke no matter what we offer. Which is good news for him as he's getting what he wants it seems. Remember this is about him not us who wants him here.
You could well be right Jäger. Im hanging onto the hope that Joe wants to listen to what they are offering re personal terms and then he will use that as a bargaining chip with us......
Is he overpriced with one year left? Yes, but this is the market we are in now, with the increased monies etc. We can't keep expecting to pay the prices of 5-6 years ago. If we want to improve the team, we must pay the premium. We have gone and signed squad players the past 4 windows. Can't keep doing that. On the other hand, signing Joe imo guarantees survival, so he'd repay that fee within 10 months.
That has much merit as my opinion, we shall see I guess. I think we should be putting money towards a striker or two though. And if it's not Bony and he does move to Everton then Man City owes us £8m or so, that will go a long way in signing someone. I put this to you all, if it came down to signing two strikers, or one striker plus Allen, what would you go for?
