But where are the interviews showing that? He may well want to come back, but nothing is a foregone conclusion, people think we put in an offer then he will automatically accept it. For me I think he will sign for Stoke especially if he speaks to Hughes today who will sell himself and Stoke to him.
I think if we match Stokes off he'll come here. I'm 100% confident of that. Problem is, we won't match their offer.
And there's a very good reason for that, he's not worth it for a player with less than 12 months left on his contract. Stoke are overpaying for him, for me he's not even worth the £10m some on here think we should have bid for him, that would have been rejected by the way as Liverpool were after more.
Jager what is this thing you have that a players value drops if you only have a year left ....It dont drop if there are teams after your player and in fact the value can go up just as in joe's case.......A team may drop their value if they have no need for a certain player to attract interest,,, A players value is what you are prepared to pay and Swansea and Stoke are interested in him....
Because a player will be more interested in a sign on fee when his contract goes down, plus on a contract normally it says they can talk to other clubs when a contract hits a certain point. If you actually knew that you'd realise that most transfers are down to the player not the club, especially when contracts have less than 12 months left. I don't think Swansea will go for him at that price, Huw even said we have a surplus of players in that position, I would rather money be spent on possibly two forwards, Bony looks promising as Man City actually owes us about £8m for his transfer, I didn't realise that, plus another player to fight for that position. I find your about face on transfers a little ironic, a week ago you said that no transfers interest you unless they are forwards, what's changed your mind?
You can never have enough midfielders jager especially those of the calibre of Joe..... and if we dont get him then we will have not bettered Stokes offer and i find that Jenkins needs to be removed from the post of decision making when it comes to bringing in players....
Why? He does a great job in that position! Your dislike of him is because once upon a time he apparently fired you, I believe this is a fact! And Huw will not be relieved of duties as he's proved over the last 14 years that he gets most decisions correct, including firing you
I thought so as well, but City still owes us £8m + for his transfer, so I think that means they will have repay that should he move. So we will either get Bony or a cash injection to chase other players.
I read a report that swap plus cash deals are hard to do and a straight cash offer would be favourable. cant remember when I read it. so thee is still hope.
I will be nice to snap up Bony and Allen , perticularly Bony , but following each new daily reports I'm losing confidence . But in the big picture , there are a lot of fish in the sea and as long as we find a few more players that fit our style and retain our current players we will be as good as any of 10 or so teams . It will all depend on what Guidolin and his staff have done with the team during the lead up to the season with what they have and who they add before the end of August . Fingers are still crossed on Bony though
Jager It's about time now that we acted like a premiership club .......Jenkins is a liability when it comes to players worth and we have missed some really good players last season and so far this season ......He admitted last season that we have reached our limit but he is not acting on it.....players we need now are of a higher standard and that means you will probably have to pay more to get them. JOE and BONY are cheap by today's standards when you see what other clubs are paying for players and if we want to do well then we had better start competing with them. Where Jenkins has done well-ish ( Sousa would have got us promoted if Jenkins had backed him) in the lower leagues and the first couple of seasons in the premiership he has become a bit of an hindrance now and as quick as we got here he can very easily take us back down if we dont compete in the market for players we need and not let them go to our rivals because they see the value and what the player can bring to the club and we look at the cost that we should easily afford but dont...
If players want to come , they will overlook a bit of money to make it happen . I see Allen as this type toward us this window with us . And others will overlook more money to stay away , I see Bony as possibly this type toward us this window . If a player doesn't want to come , you can't blame the people trying to bring him in . It's just the way the cookie crumbles dai .
I just mentioned it on the rebuild thread, but cant help but think we have no real interest in Bony or Joey and it is a bit of a smoke screen to make us think we are actually doing something in the market to make the new owners look good with the fans and it will be a bit of well we tried but it just didn't come off and then sign some worse players for pence. I hope I am so wrong on this.
Of course he's worth the money. He'll repay the fee tenfold over the next 6-8 years. He's the long term replacement for Leon, and showed his qualities at the Euro's. £13 million is a bargain given what he'd give the club short and long term.
I agree here. If they were serious owners and committed to investing then bids for both would have gone in. It's getting pathetic now. We could have two, top quality players signed if we want them.
If Allen is talking to Stoke , our chances of getting him are between slim and nil . Actually totally surprised anyone is willing to pay that much for him and his , apparent. 55-60 per week wage . Bony on the other hand , I'm totally confused why multiple Midtable clubs aren't falling over themselves trying to land him .
