    This would worry me
"Defoe, 32, might need a little bit of time to regain his top-level condition, having not played since the end of the MLS season in October"
You need someone on top form from the off

He might not be fully fit but he Is a goalscorer and one of the most clinical strikers in premier league history.

It seems we are the only club who are willing to really push the boat out for him. A lot of interest in him but the money is putting teams off.

He's not going to be a starter, so fitness wouldn't be a necessity. As long as he's in the box when the ball breaks to him, we're golden.

We could have made worse signings, but I still think we need a striker who is going to be able to start games. Losing out on Kramaric is a big blow.

Really hope this is true, he might not be the youngest now but can stick the ball in the net and would be a quality signing.

That'd be convincing but if he was going to sign for you you'd no doubt be on your board creaming yourself over it...

Not at all John, do you know he nearly signed for us last time we were in the prem? He was in the building, but the deal couldn't be done cos he's a greedy little fcker, hence his little trip to the MercenaryLS. Its a desperate gamble IMO. They sometimes come off, good luck, I mean that ;)

Kinger ain't gonna like this one. A player that QPR won't sign because of the money involved.

    Leicester moneybags

Fair enough, he doesn't strike me as that kind of player but I guess he went to the MLS for a reason when he could have stayed in the prem...

I guess I like him coz he isn't a media whore but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't greedy. I'd rather we strengthened out defence

A very large part of the wages in Canada goes to Mr Taxman so IF JD is a greedy **** then he must of been on a massive amount of money to make it worth while for a `greedy player` to play there.
Need to sort DEF out as JTF says.

Forget sorting the defence we need midfielders!

King, Hammond and Drinkwater all missed today through injury and Cambiasso came off injured

Matty James is the only fit midfielder at the minute

He played ok in the middle of the park, but wouldn't want it to be a long-term solution. He needs to be further up the pitch; he can beat a man very easily. Hopefully the other injuries are just little niggles and we'll be ok for Saturday.

Apparently Cambiasso should be ok for the Villa game. Was taken off more as a precautionary measure. Hopefully we may have a couple of new players in by then too

Please sign Defoe so we dont have to be linked with him again.

Its true he was actually at LR but would not accept the terms. I hope you have cash to spare thouh because he'll have no resale value if & when he flops and you go down.

Risky gamble but may just be enough to make the diffrence? Not convinced TBH. <ok>

Could go either way. He is a proven goal scorer in the Premier league, but the wages I've seen quoted it may be too much for us as well. The guy knows where the net is that's for sure and if his goals keep us up it would be a gamble worthwhile.
We are in a position where we need to gamble and get some proven quality in and give us a chance of staying up. Let's see what happens

By what Schwarzer was saying, it sounds like we are busy bring in "more prem experience to the squad". Make of that what you will, but would def fit the defoe mould.
