“There can be no disguising the fact recruitment has been extremely disappointing for the past several transfer windows. It has left the club in a weakened position where strong action had to be taken to rectify the situation.” So it was all Jenkins’ fault. Talk about throwing him under the bus. Not that I care about big nose but that statement means there was and is no strategy and direction for the club for HJ to execute. Passing the buck. And reading HJs statement it’s obvious they hate each other within the club. I think ‘be careful what you wish for’ is right
I don't think there is anything to be afraid of if the person selected is selected on merit and is held accountable for their actions. The Americans are supposedly astute businessmen so that is the very least we should expect from them. Part of the Clubs problems arose from when we moved from a bit time football Club to a multi-million pound company. We failed to appoint the right football people and allowed chronyism to rule. It is essential the Yanks get the new appointment right if we are to progress. They can't hide behind Jenkins any more.
I'm off the board for a day or so and come back to mayhem I won't repeat what everyone else has said... just good riddance (part one) We're in for a slog but an end must be in sight once the easy profits run out. Step up the Trust and make things interesting.
I read that Jenkins is the guy that prevented the James transfer from completing and had a massive falling out with the Yanks over it. Probably pushed into resigning.
At the moment it's all conjecture as to what's happened this week and the reasons behind those decisions will eventually be made into a film , watch this space
Trust Statement on Huw’s departure “The Swans’ Trust notes the resignation of Huw Jenkins. Mr Jenkins deserves credit for his part in the Swans’ rise to the Premier League and for that the Trust thanks him. However on the occasion of his resignation we must also point out, once again, his involvement in the way the sale of the football club to its current owners was conducted, as well as the continuing negative impact of that sale. It is also important to remember Mr Jenkins’s culpability for the disastrous transfer dealings of the past three seasons, which are the main reason the club is in its current position. For these reasons, change was inevitable and necessary. History will decide Huw Jenkins’ place in the annals of Swansea City. The Trust also notes the club owners’ pledge to work with the Trust to identify Mr Jenkins’ replacement. The Trust remains prepared to talk to the club’s owners about any subject at any time.”
If anyone didn't see it, know it, believe it or want to believe it before, no one can ignore it now. This is the reality we find ourselves. The owners believe they can make more profit by liquidating the clubs assets; selling its players, than it can through operating it as a football club; investing in the squad to make it more competitive. put another way A corporate purchaser, the Consortium, has sought out and discovered a company, Swansea City PLC, whose Assets, its playing squads, are more valuable individually than the company is as a whole. or The consortium purchased a business, Swansea City PLC, under economic conditions suggesting that the purchase price was far lower than the actual value of the business; old board sold us far too cheaply, making us a viable prospect for liquidating as profit as the profit was large enough as is, negating any need for future investment. In other words it was sold so cheap they dodn't have to do anything but cash in to make £ms. or We have been bought by ****ING ASSET STRIPPERS as a business purely for our wealth to be stripped and converted into profit through sale of players, converted into dividends to be extracted until nothing is left but a sun bleached carcass. The only 'investment' involved in the whole process of transfer of ownership was the investment each member made into the consortium as a buy-in fee giving them access to the profits generated through the consortium asset stripping its investment portfolio. No investment of any kind has been made to or received by Swansea City PLC. The flow of money only pouring out of our club none in. If you think its bad now just wait until the club has loans levied on it which increase revenue into the club so increasing the dividends going out of the club each year. The cost cutting exercise being refereed to can be called something else, dividend maximization, a cost 'cut' reduces expenditure and again increases dividends. Costs aren't being cut because they are necessary to save the club, they are being cut to increase dividend returns and so the amount of money being extracted or bled from the club. The only thing I see next summer is an image of the back of Potters head as he walks out the door for the last time, with a big group including Ollie, James, Fer, vdH, Connor, Olsson, Jo Rodon, Carter-Vickers, Routs, Nathan, Jeff the pocket rocket Monterro permanently, Carroll permanently, Ayew brothers permanently all sold or loaned or simply had their contracts run down and not renewed, all thrown out the door to feed the greed of the Asset Strippers that denied them and us the joy of playing for this amazing club.
And you know what, this is so sad... if Jenkins had just done the right thing he would have still made a fortune, been a legend in the city forever and we'd still have a great club. It's heart breaking.
That’s what happens when greed and incompetence are placed before logic. It is sad, because all these issues were avoidable
The right thing would have been to introduce new shareholders via an increase in share capital via a share placement. Yes it would have diluted the holdings of the existing shareholders but all the monies/investment would have gone into the Club. The other downside for the existing shareholders was that they would not have realised any monies personally from the transaction ......
But we don't know the lies he was told geezer, but your right, it boils my blood and breaks my heart all at the same time. The only way I can see the owners is as an insolvency business because, in my mind, that's exactly how they are acting. They're administrating us all the way to receivership while protecting the interests of our creditors, the only creditor in the process, the consortium, which also happen to be the same insolvency administrators. They will sell off every asset we have piecemeal in order to satisfy the 'creditor', the job of an insolvency administrator. They will only be satisfied when there is nothing left but the bare bones of a bleached carcass of a club that used to run in the fields of the premier league. Being a fan of Swansea City AFC is not just about supporting the team, history tells us its a lot more than that, it's about saving the club too. I have a feeling that history is about to repeat itself. The only recourse we have as fans is demonstration and we should demonstrate our anger and distaste at the Asset strippers in a way that will hurt them the most. I read in a post on a website somewhere that ended with the cry: EMPTY THE LIBERTY FOR JUSTICE Can't remember where but the sentiments are spot on imo, hit them in the pocket, don't let them put their grubby hands in our pockets neither, don't give them a single penny more. Boycott home games, merchandise etc, Boycott the Liberty, go to away matches in our droves and be louder and prouder there as we've ever been before. Empty the Liberty for Justice, I like the sound of that, we could make it part of the clubs constitution.
As it seems likely that Jenkins pulled the plug on the James transfer after the owners had pushed for it, is it also likely that the absence of new signings and the constant delay in signing key players to new contracts also emanated from the US and not SA1. Jenkins is responsible for a lot, but I suspect that the owners have made most of the financial calls over the past couple of years. Ironically for him, Jenkins is now being set up as the fall guy. Whoever they appoint next will not have the club or its heritage at heart; at best, an instruction follower.
I think you are pretty much spot on - but don’t forget it was Jinx who signed Clucas, and re-signed Bony and Ayew. That’s £50m sanctioned by the Yanks, completely blown.... and I’m not defending the Yanks.
Exactly what i have been preaching for the past 2 years......Thank you Huw for all what you have done and confirming i was right all along.
