Tough on Jela considering his current form and fitness...Mandzukic is a reyt player though
 
I can see why he is annoyed but Mandzukic is a far better player. However this can only be good for us, he won't be trotting around Europe during the breaks he can put his feet up and get some rest.
 
Reading between the lines, there must be some ill-will between him and Kovac. Can't imagine he'd simply quit because Mandzukic gets picked ahead of him.
 
Strange when he is playing so well for us at he moment, but obviously thinks there is no real chance for him at international level
 
Shame because he seems to be in the form of his career at the moment. There is rumours of a rift between him and Kovac though so, I guess that may have been the main reason.
 
Not a shame for us though - finishing his international career now might well extend his playing career and hopefully that will benefit us :D
 
He's not the only player to hand in an early retirement because of issues with Kovac.

In fact, he's not even the only striker to do so.
