Who has left recently:

Hughton, Carroll, Nolan and, if MA can shift him, Barton.

What do they all have in common ?

The fans trusted them (sorry to include Carroll in that list, but up til the moment he got on the helicopter it was true )

Definetly not engineered a move away for me. I believe the club is to blame. He's not blameless of course and two wrongs don't make a right as they say.

Replace Hughton with Nolan in that statement perhaps .. maybe Nolan was more of a political animal and provided that bridge between the dressing room and management .. ensuring any management/boardroom crap never actually made it verbatim down to the likes of Joey and Co... his removal allowed more information to flow that was previously filtered by a more mature individual? (just a thought)

Yes Nolan was a big player but Do you think that Nolan and Carroll would have left if Hughton was still manager?

Carrol, definitely if Liverpool offered £35Million .. that was a simple business decision

Nolan, not sure .. would he have given up that extra year he wanted as a show of loyalty to Hughton, perhaps .. but Hughton, like Pardew, had to follow the club structure that's now in place, he would have had the same situation to deal with .. and if Nolan had still gone would we know be concerned with Hughton being weak? all what if's really .. <ok>

I don't think much would have changed. I think it was one of the main reasons Hughton was removed. He was a halfway house for them. He was dignified but he would have fought hard to keep people. I also think he would have said the old "out of my hands" which is not the way they like to work. Pardew can be more moulded because he was in a desperate situation with his career. All in all Hughton could not have prevented them selling Jose, Joey, Nobby and Carroll. It's his club, his assets and he can do as he pleases. The players and the manager can't really influence that. He was dead set on reducing costs. It may have been bumpier for them with Hughton (hence he was removed), but the end result would be the same because it comes down to one mans desire.
