anyone else believe this lad could do a job for us next season? He's still young and i believe shows quite a bit of potential, also works well with stewart..

He did look good with Stewart, our season slipped slightly when he (cammy) got injured. I think with the right players around him he can replicate his QPR form and better.

He's definatly got too good a pedigree to be writing him off, could easily get in double figures given decent service.

Very much so. There were enough performances at various points to suggest he can score a few when given a good run of games

Watching that goals montage on another thread showed me he could very well be a threat next season. Stick him up there with Fryatt and watch the goals fly in.

Simpson has a good footballers brain upon those shoulders. A lot betther than the likes of mclean and folan. I think the problem is that he doesn't get the service he needs. I think the bristol game at home showed us exactly what he's capable of when he's got service from the midfield (particularly a certain winger ;) ). I reckon he'll get at least 8 league goals next season and maybe even one in the cup!

Although I don't post too often I am a big fan of Simpson and have said previously he is a good player at this level but is very much a confidence player.
Having taken so long to get off the mark I think he was unlucky to be replaced by Fryatt and Mclean. I think that Simpson and Fryatt will make a good pair next year with a fit Stewart providing the service they need. I do fancy us next season but an early start is vital, there are now some good teams around and the prize of a return to the PL is only going to become more difficult as the championship becomes what the FA envisage PL2.

What do you suggest, moving kick off to 9am?

I reckon we should play him, even if he's not hitting form. Then if he does hit form, drop him for McLean.

Sound tactics that can't fail.

Blimey no, I don't get up until midday. I mean we traditionally struggle with the first half dozen games but I think this year if you get off to a slow start with the teams now in the championship the pacesetters will be too far ahead and we'll struggle to keep pace.

Apart from the first dozen prem games where we stormed it and stayed up on the last game you mean? ;)

Simpson had off-the-field issues I think when he arrived, that's why he was so bad to start with. Next season we will have a class player on our hands, especially after the lad has a full pre-season with us, like a few others, even Aaron, who is not as bad as some make out on here.

Plus we didn't have a settled side until 17/18 games had been played. He played largely as a lone striker. Not what his game is about. You don't stay at Arsenal for the period of time he did by being a bad player, we need to play to his strengths, which looking at the players we're linked with, we'll have a team capable of providing our strikers with the service they need.
