If it's a PL player on high wages, we will only get them on loan with part of their wages paid by their team. Cortese is very strict about the wage structure. Could be the usual suspects from the Championship or, more likely, a player from a European club. Personally, I'd favour a Championship striker as back up to Ricky..don't want someone learning about this league when we need them on form.
Birmingham have all but confirmed that Ridgewell and Zigic will both leave next month, to get them off their wage bill, but I can see a fair few Premiership clubs being ahead of us (or any Championship) in the queue.
As for Andy Johnson, didn't Martin Jol say something this weekend about him rating Johnson more than Zamora? He might leave when he contract ends in the summer, but I can't see Jol selling him next month. And his wages would probably be quite high.
