I agree with you there Ubs. They can only put away the chance we give them. I said somewhere else that I think we don't look incisive going forward and often lose momentum.
I'd say thats more to do with HR tactics than the players we have. Take every away game this season. Never do the commentators say we look threatening up front and our strikers always look isolated.
We do have a habit of picking up players that have a proven track record only for them NOT to do a great job and just bumble along picking up the big bucks. This is my concern too. My other concern is the number of times we snuff out an opponent's attack only to hoof the ball straight back to their midfield.
That's all largely true, of course, but we don't have a playmaker other than he-who-shall-not-be-named. Harry doesn't seem to much fancy Wee Jimmy Kranky either having signed him twice for the Rs, so clearly we need somebody that can pull the strings.
I'm sticking with my guns on this one. I'm not saying he won't bang one or two in for us which is desperately needed. For me Defoe is a luxury that in my opinion we just can't afford right now on so many levels. The only way I would welcome him with open arms is an end of year loan and I just don't think that would happen. He will demand top wages compared to most of our squad. Without rose tinted specs about how good he can be and was, can someone tell me how well he's been doing over the pond recently? Is he fit, how many games has he started in the last few months and how many goals has he banged in? In fact have a gander at this, it sums up my feelings about this one. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...s-battle-Financial-Fair-Play-regulations.html
Face it, we're short of quality everywhere. But that's ok because quality would be wasted with the destructive style of football we play. Unless there is a change of approach all we need is willing bodies.
U know if we got him ( we won't) he will get injured or muster 3 goals all season but if Leicester take him he will get 15 goals and they will stay in the Prem
QPR and Crystal Palace set to make offers for same player, club will sell SPORT WITNESSSport Witness Football Interest from Spurs in Sporting Lisbon's Miguel Lopes has been reported in the Portuguese media for some time and that's the case again already during the current transfer window, but two other London clubs have also been brought into the picture. Portuguese newspaper Record claim on Tuesday that both QPR and Crystal Palace are very interested in Lopes and have set themselves up to make a move during the current transfer window. Lopes is a 28 year old Portuguese international. He's a right back who can also play at left back if required. The footballer is represented by SBS Foot who worked on taking Eric Dier to London during the last transfer window, so they know how difficult Sporting Lisbon transfers can be. Record say that offers are expected from the clubs mentioned and that Sporting Lisbon will let Lopez go if a proposal comes in which pleases both him and the club. The situation is flexible and the move could be permanent or a loan for the rest of the current season, with an option to then turn that into a full transfer. The Portuguese newspaper say that England could be the ideal destination for Lopes, certainly a potential move for the current window.
This has to be a BS story. Surely no one would take up such an offer. If we were serious about seeking a supposedly decent player like this guy, you'd offer less money and no Adel to have any chance.
All l can say is thank f--k he's no longer on our books. One appearance and the rest, injured ............ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ce-short-term-deal-Selhurst-Park-expires.html
Sad end to a once decent career. And another salutary lesson in the care that's needed when clubs invest in ageing, bargain basement players
We have pace (wingers) on the bench. We have central midfielders and forwards on the wings. Therefore, we're desperate for something different whether that's crossing ability or a contribution to the goals tally. Sorry, just being picky because I'm tired and seem to be gearing up for a day of getting nagged and yelled at by all my lovely colleagues. In all honesty, I don't know that much about him (did he play a few times at the end of last season?).
Even when he came to us, he looked a good player. I felt he would have done good things for us had it not been for his injuries. What the hell is wrong with his ligaments?!
