If you were half way through selling your car, would you go out and buy a new set of alloys?

I would have put negotiations on hold and invested a little in an attempt to have had a PL club to sell rather than a Championship club.

Maybe the league we start 2016/17 season is already included within the negotiations, who knows? Either way the seller and buyer would both surely want to buy or sell a club in the best possible position. I'm sure releasing some equity to buy someone quality would have nailed top spot, now it's in the balance. It's a relatively small gamble for the riches on offer next season.

It's the word "gamble" that stands out. It's easy to gamble with someone else's money!!

It's quite obviously not a gamble we're going to take.
