Whats the craic with our loan policy? As a club who before the season began would have been considered to be in the mix, we loaned 2 players, Haydyn and Akpom and those from one club. Surely, many managers would have been saying go and get experience at Hull City, they'll be in the mix. I'm not clear on how many we were allowed and I know there was another opportunity after the window closed, but we definitely didn't utilise the option. When flathead was here we seemed to be able to tap into Man United's player pool, Brady, Chester, even Cameron Stewart (no laughing) as I recall and yet with Bruce's past association with that club you'd have thought that would still be a channel that was open to us. Wilson has gone to Brighton so why not here? Do we not have any contact or connection with any other club? Why not Man City, Everton, Liverpool or do these young lads want the bright lights which might explain Akpom and Haydyn.

I asked the same question before Christmas, Bruce obviously wasn't anticipating Snodgrass or Livermore being available, but with a lack of our players being poached coupled with Jake's return to the fold I guess Brucey thought we didn't need anybody.

You can have four season long loans in the Championship from an English club (foreign ones you can have as many as you like, which is why we could have Gedo and Fathy) and we've so far used two. Smart for Bruce really, he must've known we had little in the way of funds and so saved two for January.

I'm guessing he didn't think we'd need anybody else between September and January so that's why he hasn't moved I don't think.

If Haydyn goes back do we then have another freed up…?...

Are you sure? Is that a new rule? I thought if you could have 4 loans & you used 2, sent one back then you had 3 available!

No, you get four season long loans. If you use two in Summer, you only have two left. Cancelling the deal makes no difference whatsoever to the league because it's our responsibility what we do with our players. It's to stop clubs pissing bigger clubs and players about, essentially.

You can have up to five loan players in a matchday squad. As we currently have just two loan players (perhaps one if Hayden leaves) then I can see Brucey having a go for a couple this window. In fact I think he's alluded to it.

This has turned into a really sad apology for supporting a football club. One thing I know about competitive football is that there is and always has been an element of ambition involved, regardless of level. The scope of the ambition might vary to circumstances but it will be there, whether it is to get promoted or to avoid relegation; to think otherwise is just bonkers. The whistle blows and there is an ambition not to lose, it blows at the end and there is an ambition to repeat the performance or to put it right. I think Hull City AFC has always had ambition and most of its supporters shared it, but there are always the odd (sic) few who want to think otherwise - it must be an altitude thing, perhaps getting down off their cross would help. Our current ambition is driven by our current circumstances, it reflected in the manager's target of two points per game and automatic promotion.

I saw a post earlier (Chazz, I think) that asked if we expect a Burnley type performance every game; it was asked with an edge of ridicule. But why not? As long as we have the same squad and players, why not expect a great performance, why have an ambition to play inferior football, what is the point. Does that not give players the right to not try - or as Bruce describes it, 'roll their sleeves up and pull on their boots'.

I think some supporters get what they deserve.
sounds fair enough.

Kenwyne Jones is in talks with a foreign club and will leave on a free, Cardiff desperate to get him off the wage bill apparently.

Snap him up Bruce. A player like this is a must, him and abel Hernandez up front sounds mouth watering!!

Helped Bournemouth to promotion and knows this league inside and out. Just what we need for Hernandez or Akpom. This needs to happen!

We could certainly do with someone with his experience, I do think we're a bit naive up front.

Had a big fall out. Dunno if they were close as players but i think Hughes nicked Bruce's back room staff. Not friends.

Correct. For those interested, the following article explains more.

"As Hughes's Stoke City side take the field against Bruce's Hull at the KC Stadium memories may well be revived of the time ice really began permeating their relationship. Now Stoke's assistant manager, Mark Bowen will be in the away dug-out on Saturday evening but Bruce has never really forgiven Hughes for poaching his old sidekick from Birmingham City to work first with Wales, then at Blackburn Rovers.

Bruce has acknowledged the two old United team-mates "did not speak for years" following a combination of Bowen's defection and Robbie Savage's decision to also exchange Birmingham for Blackburn.

"We've got a mutual respect but it's not right to say we're pals, that's for sure," said Bruce some time after this double blow. "We played in the same team and I enjoyed playing with him but it would be wrong to say we're pals because we're not. I'm not his pal like I am with Bryan Robson or Gary Pallister. I don't think I've spoken to him for years. It happens."
