Wikipedia reckons that the sub couldn't come on, but his team held out for the win. I guess until he's off the pitch he's the active member of the team, so it reduces his team to 10 men, rather than him being sent off as a sub.
Nice little quirk of the rules there, the one I saw recently that I'm reasonably sure has never come up is that if you put an indirect free kick into your own goal its a corner.
It's the same if you score an OG from your own corner too. No idea how you'd manage that (serious time-wasting ball back to keeper????), but that's the rule!
Yoaan Gourcuff - Do you think we could get him? I haven't seen him play for a year or two but he was pretty handy when I have seen him play
I'd love to see it happen, Suffolk, but considering he cost Lyon €22 million, I think he might be just out of our range! Pity!
Transfermarkt has him valued at around £5mil now, with his price tag dropping ever since he joined. Lyon aren't the force they used to be either.
Usual, tantalizing soundbites. Surely the later in the window things get left, the more obscene the price tags flying about (Torres /Andy Carroll spring to mind?) A new CB would be good, with Turner still 'weeks away'
Well that's promising Cromer! Whilst prices go up, I'm hoping it's more the case that we've agreed deals and it's just a case of sorting out the personal details and medicals. Hopefully we're not leaving things until the dying moments of the window. Wouldn't surprise me if deals are agreed, it's just a case of checking there's nobody better available, and waiting for the clubs involved to sign replacements.
last season i think the becchio / morrison swap happened on one of the last few days, and the season before we signed ryan bennett on deadline day late on - although the latter was much less of a panic buy!
I think Becchio was purely because we wanted rid of Morison, and we couldn't get Hooper or RvW across the line. This year we don't seem to want rid of anyone. If this is our squad going into February I think we'll be fine, but a new CM and CB could help make things a bit more comfortable!
It would be interesting to know how many times this season he's had a fully fit squad to select from. Probably only two or three, if that. The sooner we can get Pilks, Tettey, Howson and Turner back fit the better - obviously. Still think a new CB, as Bassong has been nowhere near as dominant this year and could use a) a rest, or b) some 'proper' competition
Pilks and Tettey were in the squad for Hull and I would expect them to play tonight. Turner, Howson and Bennett are a few weeks away
Looks like a bit of a standard James Nursey rehash. If we get another 6 month loan in it would suggest that Hughton's position will be under review in the summer and the money is being saved for a large summer war chest.
