I just cannot fathom how the scouting has gone so far to ****. We mostly berated Carr, but he's putting the current set up to shame. I notice Thauvin is now being touted again for big money move to Inter, probably another one who'll do well nowhere near NUFC's toxic set-up. Actually, you can use that as a great example of how ****ing useless we are.
Carr spotted the player, that much seems true. He's looked pretty decent both stints at Marseille. However, that's where Carr's bit stops - it's then up to Lee, possibly Derek? But it becomes patently clear the player does not fancy the move, yet we press on, noting that his "value for money" is coming into play. Carr probably values him at £15m, but it looks like Marseille will do business below that number. Player comes out in the press saying he doesn't fancy playing for the Toon, but on we go and get him for £13m - a bargain. Except it's a complete waste of money, because Thauvin then plays like someone who perhaps never wanted the move.....
It's frustrating because, in Rafa, we finally got someone in who understands football and appeared to be given the power of control, autonomy. But his decision making on players in has been borderline atrocious. Not a blip, he's done it for years and years. The scouting seems infinitely worse than when he pushed Carr out, there's no sign of progress on training ground or youth set up. In fact, Beardo's bullying happened on Rafa's watch, and isn't he in charge of all football?
Whilst I disagree with Pouchy that Ashley is somehow doing well, I am inclined to wonder how much a part of the problem is Rafa?

This feels like umming and ahing about what to do on Friday night, until the last bus goes and you end up at home eating muesli for dinner.
I reckon we'll end up with this Dubravka (GK) and that'll be it. And I reckon he'll be worse than Sels.
I'm not filled with hope. Shame that all we get to see signed are the backup options backups.
