I don't like it, but am always wrong so it's probably a masterstroke. Will support him, of course. And whatever he does, he's not another Wood.

We don't necessarily need a CM. Gordon gives us another option wide left so Joelinton can drop back. Then you have 4 x specialist CM"s (2 Joe's, Bruno, Longstaff), 2 LW (ASM, Gordon) and 1.5 RW (Almiron, Murphy). We'll end up with Maddison at some point to upgrade Longstaff.

Gordon going back to training has me doubting they'll get him.

I'm beginning to think newcastle will just go with what they have.

Makes sense if they can't get the player/s they want.

Now, if all it takes is the threat of imminent dismemberment to move things along, I'll be sure to make some more moves over the weekend and early next week. I hope to announce the signing of James Maddison when I arrive at the Earl on Tuesday evening.
 
Very good signing... only a few months ago he was the dogs bollocks on his way to Chelsea.

Clever newcastle waited until his stock fell slightly largely due to the entire club and its deranged fanbase.
