I think any offer for Berbatov has to be considered seriously ( controversial I know). I love Berbatov at times he has been worth my ticket money alone and it has been a pleasure but ....

He is 32 any decent fee has to be considered
A club our size shouldn't really be paying the reported £90000 a week wages
Many believe the team a few individuals would be better without him in the team

I have my bullet prove vest on now

I agree with that. If the points tally is there and Bent is providing the goals I would sell Berba for another 1-2 young strikers who would play for a fraction of his wages.
 
I mostly agree with the aforementioned,
Jan window would love to see Rhodes,& Creswell,
or at least another good quality fullback.
 
At his press conference today, Jol repeated his interest in 24yr old midfielder Jack Cork and noted that he isn't currently playing for Southampton.

Does anyone know if his old man Alan Cork is still connected to the club? If so, young Jack might be keen on a move.

When I first started to watch the Whites, Corky was playing up front...I couldn't get my head around how such an old bearded bald wonder like Cork could play pro footie. But he still should class and a decent touch, even in his senior years.

I know what you mean - he looked ancient. I remember turning up for a pre-season friendly and I hadn't heard that we had signed him. When he was warming up, I was wondering who the new coach was, as he was clearly too old to be a player. Then just before 3 o'clock, he ran out wearing the number 9 shirt!

"The race to sign 23-year-old Mateus Klich is hotting up after he grabbed the headlines in Holland this weekend by setting up the first four goals in PEC's 6-1 demolition of ADO den Haag, to maintain their unlikely title challenge.

Klich, who was signed for £175,000 from Wolfsburg in the summer, was named the Eredivisie player of the week earlier this season and at over 6ft tall is regarded as tailor-made for the Premier League one day. He also impressed after coming on as a half-time substitute at Wembley when Poland gave England a real scare in their World Cup qualifier last week.

Fulham, who have a close relationship with Zwolle officials through the Jol family, are leading the chase but face competition from Stoke City who have sent scouts to Klich's matches this season.

Probably lazy journalism because of the previous connection with Jol, but the price is right and he's a young midfielder so that's 3 boxes ticked..


"Fulham are ready to launch a cut-price bid for Hamburg midfielder Tomas Rincon in January but face competition from Sunderland.

The German outfit look set to lose the Venezuela international in the near future, with Rincon's contract due to expire in June 2014. With talks on a new deal showing no signs of progress, Hamburg are ready to let the 25-year-old leave on the cheap in the new year, rather than risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

The Bundesliga club are looking for offers in the region of £2.2million and that could tempt Fulham boss Martin Jol to open his cheque book in a bid to improve his options in the middle of the park.

Jol brought the South American to Hamburg in January 2009 and will hope he is able to persuade Rincon to jump ship again and join him at Fulham."

Not just old clubs - he signed Rincon whilst manager at Hamburg.

The problem is that everyone knows we need a new CM and they will make us pay. I feel a little sick every time I hear a Hull fan praising Huddlestone's impact on the team.
 
The Jan transfer market must revolve around who is available and
what sort of money is going to be put in the managers coiffers

I think this factor will have a bearing on ability to buy players, particularly if another club comes in. With the uncertainty a target has good reason to worry that the man who brings him in might not be there much longer and this could impact on their status within the team.

Yet apparently he was too injury prone for us...
 
He also went for about £5 million which is probably too expensive for us to compete with Hull. Can't believe I've just typed that but, sadly, it seems to be true.

How sad that our last two owners have been among the wealthiest PL chairmen, yet the stingiest also.
 
Must disagree to some extent with the previous statements .to recall MAF came into the club
with a splash the cash wallet, yes in the last season that wallet was closed,possibly knowing/trying to sell.
But Kahn since his arival has been reticent to spend, is he summing up the situation re present
club structure, will he spend in the window,or was his purchase other than a soccer ambition ? ? ?.
maybe in three months time an answer to his buying FFC could become much clearer.

No ros, the wallet has been closed since Sanchez pissed it all up the wall. Closed doesn't mean that we haven't spent any money at all, but compared to the rest of the PL we just can't compete. Despite what's happening right now, I still rate Jol as a manager, he hasn't lost his mojo overnight, and a lot of the failures have come from a lack of investment. If Jol was given the money he desired we could easily target top 8, but Jol isn't blameless for what's happening, not at all.
