Imagine this though?

At the end of his career, and he wishes to help us again.

A fairy tail of a suggestion that I want to buy into.

His reasons ?.....to thank us fans, and to pay his heartfelft respects to young Bradley before he retires for good.

His role would be.....

* To lift player moral to higher levels.
* To inspire the squad.
* To be an impact Sub, or a 45 minute start, to settle the team.

His presence would be immence, that's for sure !

.....I just don't want this to be a pipe dream...
Can you imagine the scenes if he signed again OHHHHHHHHHHH <party>

Can you imagine Defoes movement off the shoulder of the last man coupled with Dan Neils through balls? Defoe would score at will.

Not gonna happen though i dont think.

Good to see the likes of Huggins, Cirkin et al choose dropping a couple of levels to get senior games. That will help them to develop tenfold to what continuing with U23 football and the odd Carabao Cup game will do.

If we can show a good track record with helping these lads grow then it will entice more to do the same.

It says a lot about them as characters, that they just want to play football and develop, rather than do a Rodwell and sit on the bench picking up a small fortune. I do wonder if Maja would have stayed under this regime, as it's clear that we have a fantastic strategy in place now for player development.

Yep...a pipe dream.

That said, he's not one of those 'toffee nosed' players who would puke at the thought of playing in lowers leagues for a passion of moral past memories.

I'd argue that even if Defoe was available and willing to sign it'd completely go against the way we're trying to operate. An old player wanting big wages and no sell on value. I think he'd be brilliant in League One mind you, but I can't see it happening either from Rangers end, his end or ours.

I don't think the Maja situation would have even arisen with this regime. He'd have signed his contract before his hot streak and would be commanding a higher fee.

The wages scenario would be a matter between KLD and Rangers....and if the agreement was confirmed, Defoe's presence would certainly not be, or go against anything we are trying to operate.

He would only be here for a short spell, and his persona and professionalism would lift everyone within the Club.

We saw him in his spell here taking the time to help Maja and Asoro, when that probably wasn't his role at the club. If he came in again I think he would clearly have that as a defined part of his role here.

Also he just had a positive attitude around the club.

He would be great for Ross Stewart. Just having him around would help Ross improve.
