This is why we have to get out of this division.

Not sure I want him back on loan. He is a great prospect but I honestly think he looks not quite up to L1 standards yet. He has one or two L1 goals, and is still raw. Its nfuriating to lose him when he's just coming through, but if he's off he's off. Given Chelsea are buying him st the last minute, I hope we squeeze them, but that doesn't happen.

Pi55ed off with being a feeder club to Chelsea. We are so short of strikers we need him back, with Stockley's future uncertain, Aneke sure to be suspended soon, Leko useless as a striker, and Davison gone.

I just hope we haven't been shafted again. He'd have been worth more in the summer but it doesn't look like we put up much of a fight. Maybe the details of the deal will emerge, maybe not.

I think it would be a good move for TS to disclose the details, unless secrecy about them was a requirement of the deal.
In which case, just let us know that.
Transparency goes a long way towards keeping reasonable fans onside.

I'm not sure if Burstow would play better for the rest of the season with his head turned by dreams of a big deal, rather than having already got his deal.
    Either way he's gone.
But if his attitude is right then we can benefit from him for the rest of this season, and perhaps season 2022-23 as well if we keep him and Chelsea happy.

Personally I don't really see the point of getting riled by Chelsea.
If it wasn't them it would have been someone else.
We can't beat 'em. So we have to work on joining 'em.

Coming to terms with it now but would like to know the details of the deal and what the money earned would be - what pisses me off is it was done last thing ,so again not able to use said money on a now desperately needed goal scorer. If he’s loaned back to us will he still be as hungry to impress ?

The point is that they're a bunch of c*nts. Scott Parker, the desert, Kasey Palmer, reneging on a 2-year deal with Smertin, taking Gallagher back back in January, now this.

I agree we need him as we are short of strikers. The sh!t part of this deal was that in typical Chelsea fashion, they came in at the last moment, which makes it impossible to get a replacement. To be honest, Burstow looked like a genuine promise, with the excitement of looking forward to watching him grow. But he isn't there yet. He's a youngster and sometimes gets bullied by League 1 defenders, and until he went, my view was that this season would be a case of bringing him on a bit at a time. Looks like he'll be starting a lot more than I was expecting, then leaving. So I hope Chelsea paid over the odds.
What do you get for an 18 year old who has played 7 games in league 1 and scored once or twice? 5 million? 4 million and a 20% sell on clause? If we get 4m up front and use it to fund a real charge next season, it will be good business - let's not forget we have spent a lot of the last decade in this league so pretending we are 'massive' is a bit out of date. And the old days of watching Paul Walsh play for years and then go to Liverpool are the past. I hope we got money to buy some established players who can hit the ground running next year, Time will tell. But let's not forget we got him for free from Maidstone in 2020 so he's not exactly one who has come through the ranks.
Finally good luck to Mason Burstow. No blame for me for following the dream into the big time. And to be honest, if decent youngsters see we treat our young stars with decency and respect, they may be more inclined to sign a professional form with us. It just goes to highlight that we need to get out of this league.

Did Jermaine Defoe go to Sunderland? He's a free agent so the deadline is irrelevant there!!

Defoe has a connection to Sunderland and their fans after the way he looked after that boy with cancer.

To think that I was only worried abahrt losing Stockley in the window. Apparently Chelsea "matched our valuation" for Burstow. We seem to have plenty of attacking mids now. Lee, Morgan (who has just started to play well), Gilbey, Fraser and John competing for 2 places. Maybe Gilbey could play right wing-back?
