I’d genuinely take anyone providing it’s a big striker. They don’t need to be fantastic. There’s enough quality around them to cope. as we learned earlier in the season. Anything is better than nothing. My hope is we are holding out for quality. Just waiting for the dominoes to start falling. If that doesn’t happen then we have something as back up we can get over the line quickly.
Lets get will grigg back if thats the case

The whole point in the model is that you’re always succession planning / disaster planning and continually looking for improvements and alternatives

This idea that it’s the new system working well that we end up with nobody rather than panic buy implies those are the only two options. If they are, then it’s a fail of the supposed model.
I have no idea what you just said

correct sadly be even worse if as expected the twats win tonight
Talksport was worse earlier. They asked Graham Courtney about transfers in the north east and all he could say was how brilliant Isak and Gordon will be, it can’t get much better than this, they are absolutely brilliant blah blah
They then asked him, what about the young Sunderland side and their new signing. His response was, well he’s a left back not what they needed and it’s been bad news around Sunderland with Stewart and Evans injuries, so Mowbray will be sweating. “Even Diallo, their best player is only on loan “ ****

What bugs me, is Speakman and Co can obviously find good players, otherwise we would not have the talented young lads we have.

But when Simms and Stewart were injured, we should have learnt a lesson. Simms got called back to Everton weeks ago, Stewart now is out for the rest of the season. We expected Broadhead to return, never happened, Simms?

We have the young lad from Leeds for the rest of the season. If two strikers do not arrive in the next few hours. It is very very poor from the club.

Do you think Speakmann is sitting there playing tetris on his phone happy with the squad as it is? You say it's "very poor from the club" yet what should they be doing differently? How do you judge their performance - what players are available and within budget?

They have had months to set up targets and prepare the ground. If goalscorers don't score, they are moved on. Strikers are the hardest players to land, the test for recruiters are strikers...

I get that we're not in a great position if we can't replace Stewart. What I don't get is, WHO are people expecting us to sign to replace him?

Lots on here saying the club have failed if we don't sign a replacement, fair enough. But if that's the case please also state which specific striker we're meant to be signing? Who has all the right attributes, is 6'0+, available, and will fit into our wage structure? The club can't magic a player out of thin air. I really want to know who this miracle striker is.

Yeah, the Stewart injury is ****. Sometimes, that's life. Realistically, the goal this season was to avoid relegation. Even with no Stewart replacement I'm 100% confident we'll do that.

Why does it have to be a big striker tho? And why should we just sign anyone
Sorry I should have mentioned without breaking the bank. I’m not saying it should be just anyone. We needed 2 before the window and still need 2 now so I think there should have been a plan in place to get the exact ones we wanted. However I’d still take a lesser option over signing no one at all. Until we lost strikers this season I soon realised they are so much more than just goals. And they need to be big because the 2 strikers we lost are big strikers.
