Imagine having Jorginho, Kovacic, Kante, Gallagher and Zakaria then feeling the need to spend that much on another central midfielder who’s played less than 20 times for his club since his €15m transfer 6 months ago <doh>

Jorginho and Kante are out of contract and leaving at the end of the season. Both are now on the decline and probably don't justify the obscene wages they're on.

Chelsea are building for the future with a core of the best young talent in Europe that's not currently at an elite club. They're overpaying for sure, but they're identifying the right talent.

Ashby set to complete Toon move
Harrison Ashby has completed his medical at Newcastle.

A formal announcement confirming the deal is expected soon.

The fee Newcastle are paying West Ham for Ashby is understood to be £3m including add-ons.

West Ham have a sell-on clause inserted in the deal.

I'd take one, if it's Simms. I think we can manage with Simms and Geldhardt, assuming Amad, Roberts, Clarke and co stay it. Ideally we'll replace Evans, but I'd say the need to replace Stewart is more pressing
Simms and an experienced centre mid and I’ll be happy

You’d think with all those players they used to sign and loan straight out they’d have some of the best scouts in the world but when was the last time they picked up a bargain who turned out to be world class? Looks like they’re just throwing money at anyone who has half a season

I was always under the impression the financial side wasn't a consideration for a loan player? They get the wage they agreed with the parent club anyway just depends how much parent club pays?

There are probably rare examples where a players wage has gone up while out on loan, didn't that happen with Gyan?

We are more attractive for young lads looking to develop that is clear and becoming clearer every window but don't think the lad had any financial decisions to make.

Not sure if the loaning club can offer additional goal bonuses and team win bonuses etc. But he has definitely had good advice from the Leeds coaches. Us or Wigan is a no brainer from a football perspective

Yeah I'm pretty sure Gyan made a lot more when he went out on loan, but didn't think of goal bonuses etc which are good idea as only get paid if player is producing on the pitch.
