I'm really surprised that Nissan are not involved with the club in a high profile way. IMO, they are wasting a great opportunity to be the clubs main sponsor for both the SOL and the shirts.

Perhaps they are waiting in the wings until we return to the PL? :emoticon-0100-smile

In with Man City aren't they?

I've seen people saying we should 'invest' to get to the PL and 'push on' when we get there. It's absolute nonsense, as you say it's impossible to reach the top unless your club is bought and used as a vehicle by some pariah or state.

Chelsea were used by Abramovich and are now a top half team with Graham Potter managing and currently doing little better than Fulham. West Ham have spent big but it's peanuts and will lumber them with average players on massive wages.

Only massive investment can win anything ...

... I'm just happy for us to play football, entertain the supporters and have the odd days out at Wembley.

PL is a sterilised pandering to the rest of the world leauge for the wealthy that only a few can afford to be in, unfortunately the Mags are now one of them. Football is rancid, we've just had a winter world cup with a seemingly hand picked winner in an extremely wealthy country. One of the biggest stars of all time has signed for a middle Eastern country on insane money. Every season I give less of a **** about football when I used to plan stuff around it. The Championship is getting bigger with better TV audiences. Odegaard admittedly plays a great through ball the other night and the pundits sat there with their d**ks in hand pulling over it during and after the game. Some of our passing and play alone has been top quality and I'm sure other leauge teams have had games like that and it's "meh". We pay a fortune to watch football on 3 platforms meanwhile every other country get every game for peanuts a month. Football in this country is on its arse because they aren't arsed about us here. Little bit or a rant there but there you go.

Didn't they actively oppose us building the stadium on a site near them. Don't think they particularly care for us

Nissan did oppose us building a new ground near them on the A19 and one of the chiefs there at the time came out with a quote along the lines of "why does Sunderland need a 40000 seat stadium when the North East already has St. James park".

Nissan aren't interested in us, they bought a small set of shares when they first opened up the car plant and that's been about it. If they were, there's been plenty of opportunities in the 30 plus years to get involved including sponsorship, ground naming rights, close season tournaments etc

Doubt it very much. Doesn't fit the profile of being young with a sell on/development value. He's 28 now and close to his prime, so will want to play week in week out, but really only proved he can score goals in league 1. The link is only on that particular site, though we've been linked to him before, mostly by Peterborough touting him, similar to how the went about things with Marcus Madison. Plus, Peterborough fans reckon he's got a poor attitude and he does seem to move around a lot.

All in all I reckon it's nothing more than rumours and click bait
