With the news about Embo I think we have a challenge to overcome. The lads who get inside info seem confident Pritchard is away in Jan (in this case I hope they have the wrong end of the stick). Embo is the obvious cover for Pritch in the squad, so even if he doesnt go we may need to dip into the market (Pritch picks up injuries and rarely completes 90). His assists and goals match up favourably with Pritch over the last season and a half (obviously not saying he is as good) and dont see another 10 as we play it in our squad. An extra move we probably all hoped we wouldnt have to make in Jan.
I don't see how Pritchard would be leaving unless we want rid. Who in the Championship is going to be signing him? He's a good player, but doesn't score many nor does he assist a whole lot. Add in his injuries problems and inability to pay 90 mins and I'm struggling to see who would be in for him. Not knocking him, he's very important for us but feels like someone has started a rumour and now people are running with it....

On the Embo topic, he's never going to be in our first choice XI, but he's an excellent option off the bench and has scored some important goals this year. It's a blow as we don't have any other players who can play anywhere in midfield/wide/No.10. I dare say that Speakman will be hoping Michut/Ba can step up and start pushing for starting roles (albeit they are different players to Embo & Pritch) rather than rushing out to replace him

It won't be Diaz or Gyorkes from Coventry or someone like that, we wont spend the fee on a replacement imo. It will probably be Simms on a permanent as part of the deal with someone coming in to develop with similar attributes. Not a clue on names though.

I agree about freeing Dan Neil from the defensive duties, something is slightly wrong with our shape. We have some real potential in the squad but not enough backbone imo Gooch and Evans are only a short term answers, if that tbh.
With 2 natural RBs and one other player (O'Nien) who's best position is RB it baffles me that Gooch is seemingly 1st choice right back

I'm all for the "model" we are using but in this instance I think we are the losers. Especially if we bolster a "rival" a local rival at that.
Simms won't propel us up the league imo.
I agree. The recruitment has been mostly very good of late. We really need it to be again when it comes to replacing Stewart.

Jonson Clarke-Harris would be a sensible choice, but not sure he would be seen as a fit with our model. I tend to think it is important if we have to replace him in Jan we go for a ready to go option.

Agree with all of that. I too like JCH and he would be a ready to go option. Now is not the time for bringing through a youngster. We need a ready to go signing.

Funny how many people think matete should be playing! I like the kid but he’s been slated to **** when he’s played but now he’s not getting on the bench people are saying he should be starting :emoticon-0102-bigsm funny our fans like.
I've never slated him. I like him, obviously he's still raw but he'll become a good player imo, he has energy and rats about the midfield, should be given a go considering how passive Neil is. Find it baffling that he can't even make a match day squad.

Time will tell. It's all conjecture at this point. None of us know if Stewart will even be sold in Jan, or to whom

28 years old and 21 goals in 98 games at Championship level. No thanks
