So here's a random thought in light of the rumours of Surridge possibly being a permanent.

How would everyone feel is we got Surridge and Simms on permanent deals, but it meant Stewart going to Everton?
Don’t massively rate Simms and Surridge is decent but he’s no RS.

Whoever we bring in, I’ll be devastated if Stewart leaves the club. He’s a class act, I want to keep our best players.

I would be unhappy, a bird in the hand etc., until I hear otherwise I am pinning my hopes on Ross staying, and a couple of back up strikers brought in , and a couple outgoing to make way if needs must

I was just gauging opinion :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Oh ok fine I will indulge you ;)

Hypothetically if Surridge was to sign permanently tomorrow, then score 6 goals in our 4 January games, then people might be less concerned than if we had sold Stewart with no replacement.

Ideally both of them will be Sunderland strikers going into next season.

I'm confident Stewart will be here till the summer unless the club get a stupid offer and we have adequate replacements in situ.

Not sure how Simms coming back and this highly rated lad would derail the season?

I really dislike it when established players leave in January. Completely disrupts everything, especially when players have worked put out how to play well alongside each other. Simms is decent, but no replacement for Stewart IMO - he's not good enough at holding the ball up or pressing from the front.

Surridge would need time to bed in. I'd be very happy with him coming in now (and Simms), but wouldn't be happy losing such an important player to us at this point of the season.

Simms on bench tonight

Why is this relevant? If he comes on, the only sides he will be able to play for this season are us and Everton.

I thought it would mean he can't go anywhere else regardless of if he comes on or not?

I know we have confidence in our recruitment team, and I am all in on that. I have to say though that Surridge is somewhat underwhelming. I havent seen much to recommend him personally. A couple of Forest fans I know arent keen. He doesnt seem to have made a big impression anywhere, and his overall record in the championship hasnt been sparkling really. Maybe he is another, like Roberts, the club think has lost his way and needs a home. Perhaps that is true. He was highly regarded as a youngster I think so maybe there is a player in there. For me though, like I say, not one that immediately gets my excitement levels up.

Scored 7 in 11 starts in a promotion winning side last season. Underwhelming before that but Stewart's career was as well.

Really? A goal every 87 minutes for Forest last season and all I can see on Twitter is praise from Forest fans

Ross was on £2900 p week Pritch on £6700 Patto on £700. This is just a business to these, as long as its making money that's all they want.

So Stewart was on £2.9k a week but he had a 200% increase automatically based on promotion without having to sign a new contract? Now he's on £8.7k but we'll only offer him an additional £1.3k a week to stay? None of that stacks up for me.

I've not seen enough of Surridge, but he strikes me as similar to Stewart in description and size. 6ft 3 and decent in the air, but mobile and hard working. Would make a lot of sense, either as a permanent or a loan with an option at the end of the season.

Forest were pretty **** under Hughton for a decent chunk of last season, did Surridge' form and goals pick-up once Cooper came in and got them playing more attacking? Haven't seem a huge amount of him tbh.

Yep I know. Just saying I am not excited by it. I have seen him play a bit and I doubt he has the attributes Stewart has. Like I say I trust the club, just my observations that this wouldnt get my heart racing. I am more likely wrong than right.

Only signed for them in Jan mate. Was at Stoke first half of the season. Forest were flying when he landed under Cooper. They had another CF who I cant remember who was a beast, on loan I think, always looked the main man and Surridge played around him.
