You said Ross is on triple what he was on, which would be around £9k and out best offer for a new contract is £9.8k?

Well spotted mate, he says Ross is on treble £2.9k which is £8.7k so £9.8k isn't a big raise especially if he has Premiership clubs offering him £20k +.

I know ffp is coming in with 70% of turnover so we may have to sell Stewart eventually but I'm still on the opinion paying him £20k a week to sign a 3 or 4 year contract will increase his value instantly and if he carries on in the form he has been in for the past 18 months or so then it will go up again come summer!

Then there is the likely push for playoff with him compared to unlikely without!

So is it a bit of risk management here? Do we see the extra wage as an investment as its likely to pay off when we sell him and could even get us promoted? All of which add to the income pot?

Thing is he is here for 18 months regardless of contract offers. That's his contract.

We only sell if we get an offer we find acceptable. If we don't get one, we don't sell.

As I said the other day the ball is not as far in Stewart's court as it's made out.

If we’re only offering around 10k then we may as well say goodbye now, can’t blame the lad for wanting more than that.

Obviously I don't know what the club can offer due to budget and ffp, but Stewart is worth £15k minimum and I think thats probably a bit low. Imo only as reality is I have no idea what our lads are on and what the rest of the league is paying!

I know that mate but if we only activate the year and don't come to an agreement he is then on 12 months give or take in the summer which isnt as good as him being on 2 and half years.

Either way I don't think we should sell him in January, if deal can't be reached activate the extension and sell him in the summer.

I see him at most away matches, he's one of the lads I meet up with, was with him for Clarke’s wonder goal at Reading ...

... he's retired but very busy with his choir and other stuff.

Bloody good supporter and excellent company.

I do enjoy great company mate. you're lucky to have that.

We won't sell him in January unless we have everything else in place.

He will probably go in the summer, but again, only if we have our things in place

There a perfect example. Stokes owners are upset that FFP isn't being relaxed (and it won't be) so instead of trying to find ways to make it work, they want FFP relaxed so they can throw money at it
There was a Stoke fan on one of the threads over the road saying that next season they will be signing whoever they want and cash isn't a problem. "£200m lost down the back of the sofa" or something like that was mentioned. Seemed a right bellend.
