Nobody was happy with how Grigg turned out. However are you saying that our much lauded recruitment team are not better than dumb and dumber at brining in new players? So they have to move quickly.. so sihy happens and you have to step up and deal with it.
No we shouldnt just sign anyone or over spend thats what got us in the mess we got into If we cant get the players we want in then so be it, ill be disappointed but id rather that than saying someone who is crap that we over pay for
This is a quite unique season for a lack of real pressure on the players. Our last four years or so in the Premiership was nail biting, and since our demise we've had to cope with relegation from the Championship and several failed attempts to get back there which happily we did last season. I think as well as we've done so far this season, we're clear of the relegation scrap and in my view if we make top 6 well that's a Brucie Bonus. Of course is not ideal having this striker situation but TM will find a way however these next few hours pan out. No I don't want daft money thrown into a panic buy, surely we've had enough of those. Let's just see where the ride takes us and not throw our dolls out the pram if we fail to bring in the player who may or may not solve our striker problem. Don't think I've been this calm on transfer deadline day for years.
Definitely don't want us overpaying for anybody,. But I would be happy to "settle" for a cheap, lower quality back up to Gelhardt if nothing good enough can be got at the right price.
100% agree. If we overpay now we'll be expected to overpay again. We were taken for a ride in transfers from Ellis short ownership until KLD took over. I don't want us to go through that again. I reckon we have more than enough to finish mid table even without an additional striker. Disappointed if we don't get one in, but I prefer that to overpaying for a player, or offering high wages (and breaking the wage structure, after which all other players will want the same) just to tempt a player who doesn't want to be here.
