Are we going to overhaul our playing style to hit high balls up to a striker with his back to goal? Sam just doesn't fit what we're doing here; we're not exactly a team that is going to be playing for knockdowns and headed flick-ons.

I think you’re doing him an injustice. Yes, he’s big, but he has 2 good feet and can shoot from distance.

Sure. But his primary attributes are still a pretty awkward fit with a team that wants to play the way we want to play. Being relatively quick for a player of his size doesn't mean that he has the quickness to excel in Hasenhuttl's setup. Having decent feet for a guy of his size doesn't mean that he has the touch to execute in the sort of fast-paced attack we're designing.

Further, I really think we're getting to the point where we're doing Gallagher's career a disservice. Are we going to commit to making him a regular who starts the majority of our games? I doubt it, but that's what he needs.

The striker department has been a glaring weakness for us for several seasons/windows now and with Gabbi seemingly off, I think the summer will be the time to move on both Austin and Long. If we don't promote Gallagher to the first team, then that's two if not three strikers we'd have to sign.

Has a bit of pace on him as well, considering his stature.
If I recall correctly he has had a number of setbacks which have mostly been mentioned. The one I recall was that his body was experiencing a growth spurt and he was struggling to adapt his game to his ever-changing stature. Or did I just imagine that....????

I thought I had read somewhere that hitting the ball long, then pressing high to gain possession further upfield was a tactic Ralph has used at other teams.
Even if it isn’t, the fact that we could have that option, when all else is failing, wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Not necessarily Sam, but we have lacked a decent, strong and tall striker, who can win the ball in the air and hold the ball up, when played to foot, since Pelle departed.

Rickie j-rod and pelle weren’t exactly short.

None of our CB’s are standout players, we need a proper leader at CB. Especially if we are proceeding with Gunn in goal as he is young and needs to feel confident about his defence.
