Have you been asleep and woken up in the 80’s?
Yeah.

Ok if you must, so what has VVD done to command a high transfer fee?More than VVD. Ffs John boy![]()
Ok if you must, so what has VVD done to command a high transfer fee?
Play in an attacking position which attract higher fees as they are match changers? No
Come from a richer, more successful club? No
Won a league title? No
Won a PFA player of the year? No
Struggling here mate.
Exactly, maybe not worth as much to you as your attack is class whereas your defence is league 1 standard at best. Doesn’t make his market value less just because Liverpool don’t need him as much as VVDMate VVD is perfect for us and we needed him hence paying a world record fee for a defender.
Mahrez isn't needed and not in the elite group of players. You might get 50mil at a push.
He'd be excellent cover for us but he won't be Coutinhos replacement.
VVD looks like he'll thrive in a good team. Mahrez would go from being the best player in his team to being a standard Liverpool player.
Can he or does he play central at all?
Because he won't get a start on the wing for us. Excellent squad option though.
he’s worth a lot more than £50mill to us as there’s no way we’d replace him. The transfer market reach new levels last summer with Neymar for £200mil. Bang average players or unproved players are going for in excess of £30mill now so suggestions of Mahrez for as little as £50mill is a jokeExactly, maybe not worth as much to you as your attack is class whereas your defence is league 1 standard at best. I think he has about another 3 years. I get what you mean that he wouldn’t be as valuable to Liverpool but if Leicester sold to you for less than VVD (especially if you get all that for Coutinho) it’ll be a joke. As I say, given what bang average players are going for now. Mahrez is a game changer, he might not be elite but no player playing for Leicester would be given that title. He has all the talent, he is not valued or rated as high by others because of who he plays forHow long he got left on his contract?
You might get 60mil with 10 of those being add-ons. But don't think the Neymar transfer will effect every half decent player.
Elite players are going for crazy money..coutinho for example.
Like I said Mahrez isn't at that level so I wouldn't expect you'd get however much you seem to think he'll go for.
We don't need Mahrez, we have Salah, Mane and AOC who can all play right/center.
We need Lemar or Draxler in IF coutinho goes
Exactly.
But look at the top top teams, they have people like Mahrez on the bench. He'd get plenty of games due to rotation. Certainly not a priority though.

You’re missing the point, VVD wasn’t worth £75 mill but you paid it, Southampton set the valuation. Why should we sell him for £40 mill because the poor big boys don’t feel like paying what they pay for lesser players? It’s a sellers market. Should Liverpool sell Countino for £90mill or less or should they hold out for £140? If Barce want to pay £90mill for him is that his value? There's no way anyone will pay 75mil for Mahrez mate. You're showing early symptoms of delusion John.

Torygraph reporting that all is agreed and Coutinho is currently on his way to Barca.

.. in reality, Saints have had Liverpool's pants down at that price ... and not for the first time
Fact is, all four of my points are valid points that push up a players value. Just because Mahrez wouldn’t be as valuable to Liverpool as VVD due to the state of the defence, Sky thinks that how important he’d be to Liverpool sets his transfer valueHe's Dutch mate ... they are a real force in world football.. in reality, Saints have had Liverpool's pants down at that price ... and not for the first time

he’s a superior player to Mane or Firminho (although he’s a striker). Granted Salah is qualityFact is, all four of my points are valid points that push up a players value.
