Anyway you cut it we have had since August to look at, identify, and address the needs. I didn't like that we were looking at attacking player but we were. Salah's agent comes out and says they were working with us for two months with nothing concrete...... how the **** does that happen? Then with Kono, we have more than just deadline to get over there, let's sort this and kick on but again it just seems like we are being too cute almost with the deals and now we have pie on the face again.

Just annoying, not sure if it is the transfer committee, owners, ayre, but ayre is there to do the deals, he has to be a ****ing used car salesman if we are keeping the purse strings tight or else we just get found out.

My point is, you I or anyone else on here don't know what's happened so you can't bash him.

Exactly. The good thing is the other teams fighting for top 4 didn't strengthen either <ok>

It's in our hands still.

United did.

Tbf exactly what I was thinking, United and the Chavs strengthened but Spurs and Arsenal haven't really strengthened at all.

Everyone is going to support the club let's not go there, it is a disappointment. You are lying if you don't think that!

Rivals didn't strengthen....... worried about Mata going to United to be honest. Think when RVP is fit they will start really kicking on. Nervous about them more than Everton or Spurs.

Dave, being serious for a moment do you not think this is our suits trying to apply a business approach, admirable as it is to a crazy assed environment.

Only sane person in an assylum is still locked up.

David Pleat: Former Tottenham manager on 5 live Sport

"I saw Liverpool beat Everton the other day - they played superbly well. I don't think it's a tragedy that they did not sign this eastern European winger today. No-one knew him that well, and any foreign player is a bit of a gamble. They would have paid good money for him as well. I don't think it's a tragedy for Liverpool - they've got a good, settled squad at the moment. If I was Liverpool gunning for the top four I wouldn't worry."

Normally don't agree with anything he says but this is spot on.

United need a lot more than Mata to be considered a threat imo. They have massive issues in defence and midfield, at least we have a lot of first 11 players to come back from injury.

Ian Ayre is an easy target. Collapse of this particular deal was not his fault. He was dealing with an impossible owner

So why chase an impossible target? Did we not get a sense of that though??

No. Most of the players we've missed out on have chosen to go to a CL club instead. A couple went to Spurs as they offered more money which quite simply is a player I'd rather not have and this one had a stubborn billionaire owner that refused to let his star player leave.

All said and done. We do have a good enough squad, let's just hope injuries are kind to us over the coming months.

United are not far behind us and spent £40mill.

Everyone said Ozil wasn't in a position Arsenal needed... but he came and improved them.

One could say Utd didn't need Mata, but he is a big improvement on what they had and could be the 6 points difference they were behind us in the first half.

If we slip up just a little now- United will be favourites for 4th.

#LFC had an agreement with Konoplyanka. Owner of FC Dnipro refused to sign the paperwork

Maybe club reps and the players agent encourage us? Maybe we thought a deal COULD be done?

The Chavs are a law unto themselves. However City for all their money didn't hit their targets either. Its arguable just how useful United's most expensive purchase will be when their midfield has no steel and their defence is creaking. So it almost as you were.

Before the window we were saying just concentrate on ourselves and don't worry about those above and below you. It's just continue as before.

He was never going in this window anyway. Last summer that was our best business. It was a given he was staying this time round ;)

On one player! We have a £100m player!
