Lazio president has said that Liverpool (and most likely others) have shown January interest in Hernanes.

He said it would take an 'indecent offer' and that '£15m is not enough.'

As many of you know, I don't like loans. It leaves you at square one when they leave; if you chose to buy them then there doesn't appear to be any improvement to the side as they were there already, if they leave then you have to spend to get back to where you were.

In addition, I'm not convinced the player that is loaned in always wears their heart on their sleeve. They are not committed for the long term so playing poorly doesn't have as big a effect on them. They have the attitude of "oh well, I won't be here soon so **** 'em".

Mourinho more or less said that Man Utd were out of the title race and that he hoped they started to play better now Chelsea don't have to play them again meaning they'd take points off Chelsea's rivals. You could put a similar spin on the Mata deal; if he moves to Man Utd then theoritically, they become a better outfit and are more likely to take points off Chelsea's rivals. We all know Jose only thinks short term too <ok>

The rumoured £35m-£40m is a bit steep though. Especially considering Chelsea don't want him.

Chelsea would end up giving them Mata and paying £20m+ or something <doh>

I think Rooney is better suited to Man Utd and given a straight choice between the two they would be stupid to swap. However, Chelsea are known for throwing money about to get their own way and if there is a chance and Mourinho/Roman really want it to happen (and let's face it, Mata is a big player for them now) then they will make it happen.

Ignoring the rivalry stuff, I'd pick Mata over Rooney for Liverpool though but that's more to do with positions and what we require/have <ok>

Mata isnt a big player for Chelsea now no, I just cant see Utd letting Rooney go. He's their most important player (even over RVP now his injuries are suspiciously setting in) and has done very well this season

But Rooney's got a move away from Moyes before <whistle> I can't see Man Utd letting him go, I guess it comes down to how much money the Glazers are going to give Moyes to spend. They need a few players and may need to sell Rooney to gain the required funds. I doubt it though.
 
Rooney would fit in well at the Chavs, do you think they'd let him put his Staffey on the bench for games <whistle>
 
look this is all about choice.

1. rooney had a choice to make at utd. he made it. He is not going anywhere until his contract runs down now. Cheslea may agitate in the summer but i can't see it.

2. Mata is unfortunate. he is way too good to bench warm and it is merely mourinhos personal choice, wishing for direct running like willian or shurrle over mata's style... he is a huge talent and would be a step chance in performance for lfc... period. niethe rLFC (can't afford anyway) nor utd will be allowed to get him. thats chelsea's other choice.

3. rodgers and lfc choosing not to buy has us debating this nothing story on our rumour thread as we've no rumours to talk on. (sighs)

Liverpool misfit Sebastian Coates is set to return to Nacional in his native Uruguay on loan to complete his recovery from his serious knee injury.

Coates, 23, has not kicked a ball for the Reds all season after damaging his anterior cruciate ligaments in August.

Brendan Rodgers has decided to let Coates continue his rehabilitation work back at his old club, much to the delight of the centre-half.

"It would be beautiful to join Nacional and complete my recovery in Uruguay with my family and friends," he told Radio El Espectador 810.

"The negotiations can be hard sometimes and we have to wait a bit."

Does it change if Man Utd fail to get top four? Afterall, he left his boyhood club to play at a club with greater chances of winning. Same manager too.

That doesn't make sense. Why loan a injured player? If he wants to do his rehabilitation back home then fine, but a loan?

Maybe it's an insurance thing if he's using their facilities for rehabilitation.
