Liverpool are to step up their attempts to land FC Basle winger Mohamed Salah this week after owners FSG gave the manager their backing to make an improved offer. It has been widely mooted that Liverpool's transfer committee have been in favour of recruiting the 21-year-old but have refused to sanction a bid in excess of their valuation of the player. After holding talks with boss Brendan Rodgers over the weekend, Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has instructed Reds' managing director Ian Ayre that he should do everything in his power to land the Egyptian. It is claimed that Rodgers has up to *£25million to spend but that full committee support must be in place with regards the potential and quality of the target and the subsequent valuation. Meanwhile, former Liverpool CEO Christian Purslow is not under consideration for a position at Southampton following the exit of Nicola Cortese. * any spending now would be taken into consideration in the summer, especially if a Champions League place is not secured hmmmm
Well, if true then better to get players in now (if available) so that they are settled for next season as well as maybe offer something to get top four this.
I'm not fussed about this tbh, we need to spend now. If we don't make CL this summer then Suarez will leave anyway and we'll have £80million to try and fill the gaping void. Better to go all guns blazing now for top4, this is the best chance we've had in quite some time
I agree with this totally. with spurs everton and utd... leaving newcastle aside... to compete for one spot in top 4 we need to improve. up front is fine. its midfield, its full back.. there are identifiable gaps that need filling. If players aint good enough to buy ok.. but don't expect a better chance next year.
Exactly Mito, no buying for the sake of it but definitely consider whether 3_5 million more for an actual target which would normally result in a veto is shortsighted when put beside not making top 4, Suarez leaving and the same targets still being above valuation because clubs know we have a bag full of Suarez dosh. DM/HM, FB's priority for me. Orrrrrr..an acceptance he cant get the skillful attacking FB's he wants (if he indeed can't), use the more defensive minded FB's he's got already , (as long as Johnson & Cissoko gets handed a mop. )And go find widemen to put in front of them.
Why?? He needs to get used to our league. Surely one of the 'lesser' clubs may have took a punt with him? I don't get the point of buying someone to play in the PL and then lending them out to a different league. Yes he'll get some game time (which is good), but surely keeping him in this country would be so much better, even sending him to the Championship would have been ok. He needs to settle in England and get used to the English game. It frustrates me when these type of loans happen!
Dont think it was Magics decision Sky but know what you're saying Maybe they were the only ones who were willing to contribute towards wages or something??? Dunno
What if English clubs weren't a option? Surely its better for him to be playing then not? #protectingmagic
obviously magic bought a dud for 7mil and is passing ti off as sending a kid on loan. oops... i saw him in reserves and was shocked. can't see it.. really can't.
you'll be busy correcting me if you try to find all my errors... i never even corrected yours thats rhc's game.
