Lost two City fans in a week husband and wife Gill and Mike Whittaker . Their sonGreg is a journalistyoumayhave read his book about following City and England it’s a good read . His sister also went to city when younger. A real tragedy this last week for them . They were family friends / acquaintances through our kids at school .Condolences to Greg and Steph and mother Peggy - I hope they don’t mind- as Acun says we are a sort of family
By the way if you read Greg’s book he can’t explain either !
 
Yardbirds guitarist Anthony 'Top' Topham dies aged 75 just two weeks after death of Jeff Beck who succeeded him in the pioneering blues band
  • Anthony 'Top' Topham helped form rhythm and blues band The Yardbirds in 1963
  • The guitarist died on Monday after battling dementia for the last years of his life
  • Topham adopted the name Sanderson Rasjid after joining the Subud movement
 
Actress Sylvia Syms, best known for the films Ice Cold In Alex and Victim, has died at the age of 89, her family said.

The former EastEnders star 'died peacefully' early on Friday at Denville Hall, a care home in London for those in the entertainment industry, at the age of 89.

She will also be remembered for her role as Sister Diana in the 1958 war film Ice Cold In Alex, which chronicled the Western Desert campaign during World War II.
 
Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday Addams, dies aged just 64: Was taken off life support three days after suffering stroke caused by smoking and high blood pressure
  • Loring passed away on Saturday after family removed her from life support
  • A friend said on Facebook the actress 'suffered a massive stroke brought on by smoking and high blood pressure'
  • She played Wednesday on The Addams Family for 64 episodes from 1964 to 1966
  • Loring was married four times and is survived by her two daughters who were at her side when she died

Incredible list of songs he wrote and produced - "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" by both Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight & the Pips; "War" by Edwin Starr; "Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)" by Paul Young; "Smiling Faces Sometimes" by the Undisputed Truth; and the long line of "psychedelic soul" records by the Temptations, including "Cloud Nine", "I Can't Get Next to You", "Psychedelic Shack", "Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today)", and "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone", amongst others.

He was credited as a writer on that first hit but Berry Gordy said it was a clerical error. You can be pretty sure he didn’t get writers royalties.<laugh>

Did you see the documentary on Motown in Britain and how it got the name (which was never used in America). A good watch. The bloke who came up with it and formed the first Motown fan club in this country was well treated by Berry Gordy and flown over to Detroit and met many of the stars who kept in touch with him for years.
