If some sort of Aluko replacement comes in and isn't on loan that surely suggests no contract is being signed? Also an Aluko replacement who is good enough for the top flight would cost serious money, Bruce has got his work cut out finding one.
To be honest, the last couple of months without Aluko - we've proved we can cope OK without him. Add a pacey striker to the mix and we'll do just fine without him. Keeping Jake Livermore is much more important to the team, IMO.
Looks like Livermore will be recalled. Meyler the obvious replacement but we'll certainly need Cairney with Quinn sidelined.
McClean doesn't sound like he has impressed so will be back on our wage bill again. Hopefully we will get some cash in for Stewart and Cairney. Possibly even some extra cash for Hobbs if Forest have some competition for his signature. Prossie will struggle as he doesn't seem to have any suitors either he or in Germany (his wages will be a problem). Fryatt may take his chances elsewhere depending on whether Bruce brings in one or two strikers. For me, if we signed Livermore and Aluko on new contracts, this would be far better than bringing in a new striker. Think about what a fit Aluko would add back to the team.
On the other hand - what if he's crocked? We might have already made a new contract with him (and his agent) and be paying a cripple until 2016... (I think it quite possible that the hang-up with his signing of a contract extension was down to an 'appearance' element, as was suggested by a few on here).
Coincidentally it's also the exact amount that you get if you add up the fees we previously agreed for Long and Livermore, along with the offer we're meant to have made for Samaras.
Strange, I don't know if he is covering his tracks because there has been talk of a few clubs interested in Samaras. Hopefully we get a couple done before Chelsea come to the fortress.
