Personally I would like to see; IN (All in the final 6 months of their contracts); Defence Fabio (give Figgy a rocket up his arse) Midfield Livermore (perm) Dong-Won Ji\Powell on loan Striker Long\Bendtner OUT Defence Midfield Stewart Cairney Striker Fryatt Prossie Gedo McLean
A/ Is Bendtner a team player, or an 'I'm the Greatest'? B/ You gotta see how the new skinny and sharp Matty carries on, surely?
Other than his goal on Saturday, which frankly I'd expect anyone to finish, Matty didnt do anything to impress me. Unfortunately I dont think he is cut for this level, but I'm willing to be proven wrong
I have issues with getting Bendtner and getting rid of Fryatt. Yes, one goal doesn't make a premier league striker, but he's had a chance and he's put one away. Surely he is deserving of more chances to see if he can do better than Graham. Bendtner is a big no for me. Not good enough, bit of a big time charlie, bit of an ego too... Although saying that, he did do well for Sunderland on loan scoring 8 in 28 games. I'd rather stick with what we've got than get Bendtner and that's saying something. Also, haven't seen anything of note from Dong-Won Ji so not sure why we would go for him. Would love Defoe but that's never going to happen. The thing I liked about Fryatt was that he seemed to play on the shoulder of the last defender on Saturday unless I am mistaken and given that our Strikers seem to dislike being in the box (how many times has the ball been put in the box for a striker not to be there). I think he could do well.
Figgy is playing World Cup next summer so his value could potentially rise, not a time to sell him and anyway he adds an attacking scope. Fryatt is a man on a mission don't want the greatest danish player who ever lived ta very much
I never mentioned selling Figgy, we need to bring someone in to give him some competition. God knows when Dudge will be match fit again. I still dont think Fryatt is up to it, but wouldnt mind him playing off Sagbo on Wednesday.
I think Fryatt is worth keeping around until the summer. He might have been playing against a poor Fulham defence but when he got a chance he stuck it away. He's not the answer to our goal scoring problems though. Mclean, Stewart and Prossy only really need someone to come in for them and I wouldn't be surprised to see Cairney stay at Blackburn. Get Jake tied down at the club and another striker or two has to be the priority, and I agree that Figgy is in desperate need of competition.
Dudgeon is an excellent tackler but remains to be seen if he's PL class. He's more suited to 4-4-2 IMO
My OH thinks that Fryatt was full of enthusiasm and running when he came on and got stuck in. Its hard to tell his worth on just a sub appearance but I think he deserves a chance after his long term injury.
Being a bit harsh on Matty there, maybe anyone could have finished it but it takes quick thinking to get yourself in a position to finish it and Matty seemed to have that something we have sadly lacked.
I would keep Fryatt, I thought he looked sharper on Saturday than I have seen him for a while. He is a poacher, and certainly can be a good option for the last 30 minuties when defenders are getting tired.
It's not public, but that's what he's saying. However, his stance changes frequently. He was saying something very different a week ago.
Agree with this. I thought Fryatt was excellent in his time on the pitch v Fulham. Confident, ran with the ball, simple passing. Tidy one touch finish through opposition players for his goal. He's a decent support or number 3 or 4 striker option for the bench.
I don't know. I know it's reliable information but he could just change his mind. If he sticks to it, it's a hell of a lot of money we're talking about.
You mean, when everyone thought SB and DM were talking about Powell, our offer was actually for Rooney?
