I don't like Baz's reporting that it should be considered a positive. We're still losing talent for a fraction of what they could develop into.

How good is the lad? It just seems odd that he's not playing way above his age group as you usually see with decent prospects at City.

I'm sure Keano was playing for the 23s when he was 16, and I seem to remember Max Clark being extremely young too.

If there's any position throughout the club you could consider it the most difficult to break into at present it's the goalkeeping position. The current pecking order, as far as I'm aware, is:

Ingram
Darlow
Tim LT
Cartwright
Robson
Fisk
McCauley
Voase
Wilson

He was only 16, but he never dislodged Voase or Wilson as far as I recall. A lot is made of potential, but it's a constant gear grind of mine when it's used as a reason not to sell somebody. You can't run a football club based on how good players are going to be, we also have to look at what's happening now. The academy rules, like them or loathe them, state that Academy 1 clubs can poach our players for nominal fees, but in this instance, Liverpool chose to buy him. Don't think of it as wasted potential, think of it as money gained.

Ingram hasn't done much wrong but I think you can now safely swap 1 and 2 around!

His overall game is just a big step up on Ingram's. But surely that's exactly why he was brought in

He may well be better, but it's not a big step up, I really really really dont get why our fans are always so quick to down play Ingram, he's been nothing short of fantastic for us over all in his time here and is a much better keeper then most give him credit for. People always seem so happy to play him down, but will do everything possible to avoid bigging him up when deserved.

We are blessed at the club with some great keepers.

I know you like Ingram but I don't understand how you can't see Darlow is a major step up for how we play. Ingram's distribution is very poor and that's hugely important under Rosie. He's not a particularly commanding keeper either.

Ingram is an okay keeper at this level but there's not a top 6 aspiring side in the league who would have him as there no.1

***conveniently forgets his playoff appearances last season***

Ingram is a good shot-stopper but his distribution is poor. Darlow is a good shot-stopper and his distribution is decent. I think that Darlow is probably better but not by a huge distance.

He probably will be a step up long term, but it isn't a "major" step up. I spent my career as a keeper, I spent my coaching career coaching them and a hell of a lot of time breaking down their games etc... I do like Ingram, yes. But that doesn't stop me giving criticism when it's needed. But I won't ever understand why certain people on here are quick to put him down at every opportunity. It's almost comes across like some want him to fail. It happened when Baxter came in from Chelsea, it happened when Darlow was spoken about and now again when he's had on MOTM ( well deserved) performance.

But hey, I suppose it wouldn't be city fans if there's wasn't someone getting played down for absolutely no reason whatsoever

*Edit* how many motm wins/top 3s has Ingram got this season on our motm threads....

The commentators tonight kept saying that we have the best defence aside from Burnley since coming back from the World Cup.

I do think Darlow is probably marginally better but Ingram has been a big part of that and he deserves a lot of credit. He can feel unfortunate if he his kept out of the team.

Didn't Luton come to us to get him on loan for their end of season and play off games last season? So literally a top 6 aspiring side..
