Reflecting on this thread, I can't help but remember that a while ago a lot of people were saying the club's future was all about players like Tufan, Sinik, Traore, Pelkas and the likes of Slater, Docherty, Smith were all GM signings who weren't good enough for this division. 2 months is a long time in football.

I think he’s coming here, play for a manager who will definitely give him game time and one that I’d say he trusts.

Not to mention that Tan is closer to the deal than Nixon or any other journo - he wouldn't be divulging what he did yesterday without being fairly confident it's imminent.

In fairness, Slater was one of Acun's first signings, as was Longman, easy to forget Acun signed off on their purchases in January.

Wouldnt be the first nor last time deals change at the last hour

Tan did end his comments with a caveat though.
If QPR are in for him, it would surely be tempting for him to stay in London.
Hopefully he's ours though.

I'd still say similar.
Slater, Doc, Smith did the business against (bottom of the table) Wigan, but if we are serious about promotion we need much better. They wouldn't get into the starting line up of any top CCC side. They also wouldn't have got any where near starting in our previous promotion sides.
It might not be Tufan, Sinik, Pelkas (can't comment yet on Traore) for the future for us, but that's the sort of quality we need for promotion.

Bang on the money.

I still don’t think Smith is, but having seen him last night, he looks a different player under Rosenior, as do Slater and Figuereido. I did say before Xmas that Smith would be sticking around and I stand by that, I don’t think he will leave.
