remind me how well KLP did in said league?

Its the same argument as Vale and Simons. Very few u21s make an immediate step to elite pro men's side.

As someone said earlier. Need to be a physical freak essentially.

Simms will come back with data. Against grown ups and ****houses. That's why we've sent him out to a club 4 tiers below.

That made me proper giggle!! Some on here were saying he should be given a chance in the 1st team!! :emoticon-0136-giggl

I mean KLP went on loan to Bradford Park Ave (also National League North) and failed to do anything. The following season he played 21 times in the Championship

Jim's 18, and this loan is great for him

^^^***Bump! ***^^^

It's a junior at the start of his men's career.

If he wants it enough he'll make it.

It's not an uncommon path either. Dan Batty went on loan to Halifax at the age of 20, and the following year played 27 times for us in the Championship.

Footballing ability isn't these kids issues, it's dealing with the physicality. Once you've got that sorted, the progression through the leagues can be rapid

That and the fact that the U21s games are just a multitude of friendlies against the reserves of Barnsley, Colchester, Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday. Half the time they’re used to get players back to full fitness. In order to progress, these young lads need to play in games that have a competitive element and know what it’s like to fight for three points.

What's that got to do with my post? Or are you meaning that on the surface at least the KLP loan to a similar level appeared like a waste of time?
My point / post was that some on here were implying that he was ready for our 1st team, calling for him to be given a start! It shows how little some know about the realities.
Not knocking him in any way. I (of course) hope it's a great loan move for him and he comes back with new experience that helps develop him further. Hopefully a future star for us.

The notion that someone going on loan to a 6th tier club is incapable of coming off the bench or playing Cup games for a Championship club is rather funny.

Back when I lived in Chester as a student I used to pass the time on a Saturday going to watch them in the 6th tier. One player they had on loan from Bradford was that McBurnie lad. At the end of that season Swansea snapped him up and I would say he hasn't looked back since

We snapped up the lad from FGR who couldn't get a place in a League Two side and looked very promising for us before his knee injury. Not a first team regular, but not out of place. Simms would, I would think, not be far off that sort of impact.

The fact an 18 year old is even spoken of by fans the way he is, is exciting for a fan. Not sure why we have someone laughing he’s gone on loan for a month to play games. Outside the window might I add
