I was surprised there wasn't interest in a loan move for Cannon or Moncur, I cannot see them getting a lot of game time unless we have a lot of injuries.

I haven’t read the thread thoroughly, so just a quick question about Longman, is it true we had to sign him permanently or else Swansea were going to make a 500k bid?

Not exactly, Swansea supposedly had a 500k bid accepted before the takeover went through, in the malaise of the early weeks of January, and Brighton were all ready to recall him and sell to them but Swansea's owners vetoed at the last minute and he stayed. We had to sign him for 750k because other teams (Huddersfield and Millwall apparently) by then were after him for more than 500k (and probably more than 750k as well - this allegedly being the predetermined amount we'd agreed as part of his loan).

My view is that Swansea made a bid, and when they found out Ryan and his agent said not interested, Swansea withdrew their bid in an attempt to save face. The player ultimately when under contract as Ryan was at Brighton, has the final say, and clearly he is enjoying himself at City and wanted to stay here so all other interest was in essence academic. Could be wrong but there you go. :1980_boogie_down:

You’re welcome. He sounds very humble and his English is excellent. Looking forward to seeing how he does - my lad has called him the Iranian Mane <laugh> said it’s easier than pronouncing his full name.
It’s ALI for me

Remember when I was saying the Doc gives away possession too often? Oh look what’s happened.

Really don’t know what he was doing there. Had time to pick a pass and he chipped it straight to a Preston player.
