We also have to be mindful of keeping hold of some of our key assets.

George Honeyman in particular I believe would be more likely to sign a new contract not only on improved terms but also by sticking with McCann (at least until the end of season) and bringing in players like Slater.

Big changes are needed but we also need to keep hold of the positive stuff - the dressing room looks like a positive place to be right now.

i havent a clue how long these things take. whats the quickest/longest?

So from https://www.thefa.com/news/2020/dec/01/gbe-points-based-system-launched-011220 it says

The GBE will operate a points-based system, where points are scored for senior and talented young players based on:
• Senior and youth international appearances
• Quality of the selling club, based on the league they are in, league position and progression in continental competition
• Club appearances, based on domestic league and continental competition minutes

Players accumulating the requisite amount of points will earn a GBE automatically, while players just below the threshold may be considered for a GBE by an Exceptions Panel.

Now Turkey's Super Lig is indeed Band 2 and Fenerbache finished 3rd last season, which meant they ended up in the qualifiers for Europa League (Band 2 competition). If I'm reading the original link correctly that means he has 11 points right off the bat out of the 15 required.

I'm assuming as well he is a full Iranian national and in their first team so that gives him a load of points too, as they're FIFA ranked 21.

Per RH:
Hull City head coach Grant McCann says he’s yet to speak with the club’s new owner, Acun Ilicali.

He’s spoken with Tan Kesler and is due to chat to Acun next week.

McCann says he hopes to remain at the club.

but the guy has never played in an offical league game for Fenerbahce. He has been on loan for an ukranian club. Does it matter for calc?

That just cannot be true.
It's way beyond coincidence that so many of our signings have previously been with McCann.

I reckon Darnborough will have been more like a typical purchasing department than what most people think of for a director of football. Does all the legwork finding out who maybe available at what sort of price and sorting out contracts and all that ****e rather than absolute authority on who comes in and out of the club. McCann will decide who he does and doesn’t want. The Ehab would have stepped in at the final stage and offered 20% less or no deal.

I'm told by an immigration paralegal that subject to all criteria being met an application can go through in a couple of weeks, as long as the lawyers are on the ball and the Home Office isn't too overwhelmed. But realistically it might be a month or so.

Apparently he did play but in 19/20 season https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allahyar-sayyadmanesh/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/480975/verein/36 no idea how that goes for calculations. If they base it on the Ukrainian club, they are band 4, finished 3rd but reached the final of their Cup, if that counts for anything, who knows?

Few crossed wires.

Baz in the HDM Q&A seems to think that we won't spend money this window and that the embargo is still in place.

He also thinks the Hugill one is a goer.

What I can't understand is how we can sign Regan permanently as Sheffield United always wanted a nominal fee for him.
