With Sayyadmanesh on loan with an option to buy and Longman signing permanently, I don’t see where that leaves a place for Wilks after returning from injury. I imagine Acun and Shota will want to retain the core of our best players like Honeyman, KLP, Greaves, Docherty whilst shifting some of the deadwood like Cannon, Moncur, Wilks, Scott etc. in the summer. Then there’s the likes of Smallwood and Eaves who could earn extensions depending on how they perform for the rest of the season.

Bit early to call Wilks deadwood. He was our top scorer last year and he's had a difficult start but hopefully the competition kicks him on

He won't have seen Wilks much, but based on last season, I'd expect he will be given a chance.

If Grant gets the Sunderland job, can see him coming in for Wilks in the Summer.

I like Wilks, and I even think Scott still has potential, but both have sort of stagnated when compared to KLP. I hope if they do get given a chance by Shota, he’s able to get something more out of the pair of them that McCann couldn’t.

Nah, McCann's playing days are over, besides he was a different sort of player to Wilks.

Wilks does need to get out from the McCann comfort zone. He plays him regardless of how he plays.

In other news, I wouldn't mind seeing Tyler Smith get a loan move

Scott is ****e. Awful attitude, eats takeaways multiple times a week. Needs shifting. Wilks has genuine potential and has shown it already. Scott is stealing a wage and we'll see that when he moves on and falls through the divisions. The u23 I know says he's one of the worst trainers guaranteed doesn't even stand out in u23 games but got loads of chances because Ehab paid a fee.

I know these video’s need to be taken with a pinch of salt but the fire and intensity he moves and plays with really stands out.

He looks like the sort of player determined to stay on his feet and tussle with everything he’s got rather than just fall over.

I don’t really see a future for Cannon or Moncur regardless. Not bad players but they pretty much epitomised the Allams’ transfer model of signing players for the sake of filling out the squad, even if they didn’t improve us. Cannon in particular was an odd signing as Pompey fans considered him surplus to requirements there and couldn’t believe he got a Championship deal.
