Looks like Alnwick is off to Huddersfield.

Confirmed... Hope all is ok with his family situation.

Has been decent enough for us and never kicked up a fuss when not playing.

A genuine professional who did a job for us.
Trott is obviously BBM's man and will be first choice. At his age, Alnwick needs to be playing.
Good luck to him.

It should never have been allowed to happen in the first place whether it's lifted later or not.

Poor form from both the club and their auditors. Someone needs to take responsibilitry for the substandard governance - I bet Tan isn't happy.

Obviously but it’s been blown out of proportion if as stated it’ll be temporary and so leave sufficient time to do any business.

How can it be blown out of all proportion? It's a hard fact and reported as such.

Notwithstanding the statement saying we'll have "sufficient time to do any business", it should never have occurred.

It's a poor reflection on the club's senior administration. It's their (CEO Choo and the Auditors) responsibility to ensure compliance.

We are the ONLY club too, according to AI, as Sheffield Weds have been given special permission.
nb... even AI doesn't know which league we are in <doh>

As of today, January 10, 2026, Cardiff City is under a transfer embargo imposed by the EFL for failing to submit their 2024-25 accounts, preventing them from signing players during the January window until they comply, while Sheffield Wednesday recently had special permission to make a signing despite being in administration, highlighting that embargoes can be complex and sometimes lifted or modified. The total number changes, but Cardiff City is a confirmed case in the Championship.

different rules and time scales for some clubs though

Which clubs are in danger of FFP?

As we head into the summer of 2025, five Premier League clubs—Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, and Wolverhampton Wanderers—are walking a financial tightrope, with potential breaches of PSR and UEFA FFP looming large.

I reiterate I agree the situation should not have occurred and that if as reported it’ll be sorted then it’ll have been a minor bump in the road that’s been remedied. Next weeks fish and chips paper.

Do you expect the fish and chip papers to pass up a story?

I say they should never have been given the chance to print it - all down to our club's incompetance at the top.

The club say it will not affect their transfer plans in the current window - or words to that effect.

With 1 keeper gone, another about to go, 3 youngsters gone on loan and another 2 (I think) likely the squad looks pretty thin so I'm assuming they do actually have some plans.....

Of course this makes us look a laughing stock. It is an inexcusable basic schoolboy error and fans of other clubs will be more than happy to point this out.

It would be unacceptable in most businesses so why should we be different?

Monday's chip paper or not, heads should roll and I don't think it should be the tea boy or cleaning lady.

Well if Glen’s correct then the club is blameless and people are being too quick to judge.
