It's impossible to prove right now, but I think our current squad topping League One for the past few months would be mid table competitive in the Championship should we go up - before I get shot down, it's only an opinion.
Funnily enough this came up for discussion after the Barnsley game, and concluded the current team would be in bottom third but qualified that by suggesting BBM has the ability to get a lot more out a squad than Bulut or Riza.
It wouldn't take a huge influx of new players if we want to consolidate our position in the Championship.
True but the new players need to be a cut above our current crop of players especially on the flank, central midfield and up top.

However let’s get there first <whistle>

There's a lot more to come from the youngsters, and even the older players right now won't be "old" next year. The one crucial factor in that would be retaining BBM and his staff as manager to continue the huge improvement we've seen since he's been here.

It wouldn't take a huge influx of new players if we want to consolidate our position in the Championship. A few astute decisions from BBM and Patrick Deboys should be enough to strengthen the squad and more than just ensure survival.

I don't see BBM asking VT for considerable funds to acquire ready made quality players. His belief in himself and those around him to get the best out of what he's already got got and others he'd like to bring in may be enough.

More expensive ready made "stars" with track records don't figure in his past experience, being more content to bring the best out of players he's got around him whilst recognising areas in which we need to improve. I don't think the "Wrexham model" is for him

Tan needs to encourage him with support for what he wants to do rather than an expensive wish list from us lot.
I agree with your first statement. I said as much elsewhere.

BBM will find another couple loan youngsters and a couple under performers for little cost. That will be enough for him to move us forward next season.

As you say, hanging on to BBM and his staff will be key. Tan needs to understand what a gem he's found (stumbled across). I'm not saying BBM will get us to stroll to the PL and Europe, but there will be sound foundations laid, consolidation in the championship and financial value to the squad. I expect us to lose a player or two in coming windows, but if BBM and Deboys get transfer business in and out that turns a profit, Tan should be delighted. The value in our squad is possibly as high as its been since we were in the PL. I dare say our wage bill is lower than its been for some time as well.

A long way to go, but heading in the right direction.

So we need midfielders, wingers and strikers to stay in the Championship (should we get there <whistle>). Don't believe that at all. If we want to get out of the Championship at the right end then I agree, but to consolidate our position there it wouldn't take such a drastic overhaul.

With a few additions, we currently have the tools and the tradesman to use them properly. No more than realistic support and expectations from VT will allow BBM to build organically from within. I hope he's in for the long term so we can benefit as a club rather than another lurch into the unknown.
